Ret. Gen. Myers: criticizing Rumsfeld inappropriate. Clark disagrees.
Rumsfeld critics off base: ex-military chief

Reuters
Saturday, April 15, 2006; 3:40 PM

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Calls from a growing number of retired US generals
for Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld to resign over his handling of the Iraq war
are inappropriate, former Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Richard Myers said
on Saturday.
<snip>
"I don't think it's our place in the military either in uniform or when you retire
to make those judgments. That's not the military's role. They certainly can.
It's their right to do that, I just think it's inappropriate," Myers told Fox News.

Clark, who ran for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2004, disagreed with Myers.

"It's more than appropriate, it's their responsibility," he told Fox news. "I believe
Rumsfeld hasn't done an adequate job. He should go."

1. Who did he say this to???
Oh right....FOX news.

That immediately disqualifies his comments as anything other than partisan idiocy.

5. Where was Myers during most of the battles? As I recall almost
every news conference he held was from Florida. He spent almost no time in Iraq, no wonder he didn't know what the commanders on the ground were saying.

6. if only we had just let have the nomination in the first place then he'd
be the president and we'd have already made the reverse course that we need to make so badly.

11. Hmm, can we count Clark on the list of anti-Rumsfeld generals?
On the one hand, he's a fairly recently retired SACEur, which certainly seems to qualify him. On the other, he is a prominent Democrat (whether some on this board care to acknowledge it or not), and can hardly be considered non-partisan at this point. Hell, he likely thinks the entire bush administration should be replaced including bush, and Rummy is but a subset of that organization.

17. Definitely
In 2003 he said the first thing he would do as president is fire Rumsfeld. Too late now for that, but count him we can. We should make it very, very known that the Dems had a General out there years ago on this.

21. Clark went further than that...he said he ran for President to get
Bush out of office because of the harm he was doing to the country. He said that the whole mess is the responsiblity of the President--Bush--not just Rumsfeld.l

25. So... Let me get this straight
It's inappropriate to "just follow orders" which are unlawful even * admitted this the Eve of Destruction 3 years ago.

But it's also inappropriate to call out those giving the unlawful orders?

Am I missing something? Oh, sorry I forget propaganda is to be used against the enemies of the Regime (i.e. The American People).
