HEY AMERICA! IT'S TIME TO WAKE UP AND GET UP OFF THE FLOOR!
"ih8thegop" brings up a great point. See: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x2570879

I would take it a step further and say I think we should
use EVERY means of communication available to us to make
the following DEMOCRAT plan known to all the people of America -- RIGHT NOW!!!!!
and REPEAT it like a mantra until they can't stand it anymore!
Anyone ever hear of IMPRINTING? We need to imprint the following
idea into the consciousness of ALL Americans!!!!

Our Six-Point Plan for 2006

Real Security
  • Based on telling the truth to our soldiers, our citizens and our allies

  • Protecting America; leading the world.

  • Energy Independence 2020
  • Creating a cleaner, greener and stronger America.

  • Honest Leadership, Open Government
  • Restoring a government as good as the people it serves.

  • Economic Prosperity and Education Excellence
  • American jobs that will stay in America.

  • Keeping America number one; Restoring opportunity and innovation.

  • A Health Care System that Works for Everyone
  • Like 36 other industrialized nations.

  • Making the wealthiest nation on earth, the healthiest.

  • Retirement Security
  • Ensuring dignity for older Americans.

  • It's time we should be driving home STRONG ideas of what
we are going to DO for America to make things better
and bring America back to its feet, where it belongs!

    4. Recommended. I really back this.

All really really good points. The one thing I would like to see in there is a little more respect paid to civil liberties and human rights; no more torture, people left free from spying, government stopping teaching religion to our churches by defining marriage. But I am behind every one of those points.

    6. Thank YOU Big Bear John

I have a tiny question ~ when you say "Leading The World" do you mean that we will work WITH our neighbors around the globe to make this WORLD a Better Place?

    9. Yes, that's my understanding. I hope it's the Democratic party's too!
In my humble opinion, we need to lead by example,
    not by force.

    8. It's DEMOCRATIC" plan, not the repuke "democrat plan.
    DEMOCRATIC is the adjective.

    "democrat" is a NOUN.

I hate it when anyone does that!

    10. Ordinarily I would agree with you.

but in this case, I want people to associate
this plan as belonging ONLY to the DEMOCRATS.

After all, isn't it also true that the GOP can have its
own "democratic" plan even though they are republican?

Aside from all this, what really bugs me is when
someone argues semantics about whether it's really a bucket or
a pail of water were using while the poor guy is running to put out a fire.

    11. It's "Democratic Party" - why not "Democratic Plan"?
I think it's good thing to associate the Democratic Party with democratic/democracy.

Thanks for the clarification, it is a golden one.

All day long we hear on the BushMedia," DEMOCRATS don't have a PLAN."

I want to take my tv and throw it!:argh:

    12. Short, pithy, to the point -- I think you've got it! (K&R)
Time to start forwarding this to all the Democrats I can think of -- most especially those who might be running for congress or President in the near future... :patriot:

"Restoring a government as good as the people it serves." Love it.

    14. A great way to imprint the 6 point plan......
is to make it simple to remember. We should use the old KISS (keep it simple stupid) approach. Use a phrase like "I think it is time for our government to REHEAR what the American people have been saying all along". From there list the 6 point plan. We need something that will resonates and I think the simpler the better.

    16. This is what we all need to start communicating to Americans!
Whether its in conversations, emails and even printed handouts left on cars or shopping carts, in Letters to Editors etc.

I recently went to a fundraiser where Robert Redford was speaking. He emphasized that we need to have every single Democrat be able to answer if asked on the street what the democratic party stands for and what the Democrat plan is.

This is great....easy to remember and to recite!

    17. Love it!

We Democrats tend to explain things forever.

Let's work on KISS like the Republicans do.

"We have found WMD" and say it real scary

    18. I admire the positive tone
However I must say that this isn't a plan at all, more like a series of platitudes. I mean "Creating a cleaner, greener and stronger America.", "Restoring a government as good as the people it serves.", what does that mean anyway? Hell, Republicans say crap like that but does it translate into actual policy? No it doesn't, it just sounds good.

A plan implies details, not meaningless rhetoric. We need to be able to tell the public not only what we intend to do but more importantly how we intend to do it.

Here's an example for ya. You say "American jobs that will stay in America". Good idea that but it needs fleshing out. How do we do that? First we cut dramatically, with an eye to eliminating altogether, H1B visas. Instead we invest money in education programs to ensure that American workers are available and qualified to take those positions. Furthermore we institute tax penalties for companies that outsource jobs without showing just cause why this is necessary. We provide incentive (again through the tax code most likely) for companies to not only keep jobs in the US but to buy American produced parts and materials such as textiles, steel, and plastics. We encourage small business growth through further tax incentives and pass legislation that penalizes the sort of business blackmail that corporations like Walmart use to strong-arm suppliers into supplying goods at prices which drive competition out of business.

See what I mean? The American voter has seen a whole slew of politicians come and go who blithely announce that they are for example "anti-crime", or that want to "help the middle class". Such ideals are all well and good but unless you tell people exactly HOW you plan to do that they ain't listening anymore.
