"Without the Brits aboard for another trip down Suicide Lane, the Bush ...
Edited on Sun Apr-16-06 12:06 AM by understandinglife
... Administration is now totally isolated, and in light of the Hersh article, looking like a collection of crazy loons. Worse yet, an influential think tank in Britain, one that has Blair’s ear, advises that Iran should be treated like Libya, and not Iraq, through a carefully crafted carrots-and-sticks approach.

(I)n the midst of international opposition to a pre-emptive strike on Tehran, and Britain's military commitments around the world, the government maintains it cannot contribute to a military assault. "We will support the diplomatic moves, at best," a Foreign Office source told Scotland on Sunday.

At best? That sounds to me like the Brits may not even support Security Council sanctions against Iran.

More from Steve Soto's commentary entitled Blair Tells Bush He's Flying Solo On Iran at:

"At best" had better be an indication that only legal behavior and absolute respect for the sovereignty of other Nations and the dignity of each person's life will be tolerated.

We need serious dial-back to some form of reason and dialogue.

It is mega-lunacy to consider the use of even one nuclear device, anywhere on this planet.

We need neoconster imperialist criminals to be prosecuted and we need the world to hear, loud and clear, a genuine apology for the atrocities that have been dealt the people of Iraq since March 19, 2003, by a band of rogue crusaders named Bush and Blair, Cheney and Rice, Rummy and Feith, Bolton and Perle, Abu Gonzales and Yoo, and more.

2. Hope this is accurate. If it is, then this is the Tony Blair I thought I
knew way back before he started hanging out with that thick bunch in the Bush White House.

Bush and his flunkies need to be told they are flat-out wrong, insanely wrong, and unacceptably wrong.

Hurray for Blair.

3. I think Blair realizes how close his lips already are to the "Nuremberg ..
... chalice" and is considering the implications of any further illegal acts of aggression, torture and occupation.

Peace.

4. Britons Feeling 'Tired of Tony'
Blair's approval ratings have fallen to just over 30 percent. Nearly half of people polled by the London newspaper the Times this month wanted Blair to resign now or by the end of the year. Fifty-seven percent agreed that "Blair had run out of steam and is unlikely to achieve anything else as prime minister."

9. I heard it speculated by a Brit on TV, that he would be gone by
the end of the year. I'm not certain -- I think it was a guy from the Financial Times... and they were making a prediction that he would be out by year's end.

6. This is very good news
Do you think it will be enough to get the Bush administration to drop its plans for Iran?

I'm sure there will be no apology of any sort until we get rid of this pResident.

7. Not sure, but it further amplifies the reality that those remaining ...
... with Bush are certifiable fanatics and war criminals for even planning aggression against Iran.

Peace.

8. Sanctions Were Effective Against Libya
unless you buy the lie that Kadafi surrendered his nuclear ambitions after he saw that the US attacked Iraq.

Sanctions, and the carrot, trade agreements.

I think sanctions would work against Iran too.
