3. This is good news
It means they're giving up on reaching moderate, independent voters and are strictly appealing to their knuckle dragging base.

5. EX-cellent!
from the article:
GOP leaders long have known that the war and merely riding the coattails of a second-term president could disillusion their base.

If there was any doubt, conservatives issued a concise warning last month. Four groups representing evangelical Christians said an internal survey found that 63 percent of "values voters" -- identified as evangelical Christians whose priorities include outlawing abortion and banning same-sex marriage -- "feel Congress has not kept its promises to act on a pro-family agenda."

The Family Research Council, which headlined the survey, also announced it would hold a "Values Voter Summit" in September to "raise the bar of achievement for this Congress." At the top of the agenda could be a call for new leadership in Congress if those in power have not acted on social conservatives' issues.

The stage is being set for a real showdown, methinks.

4. Those are tabloid issues. And the republican party is a tabloid
party. And the people that vote republican read tabloids like the National Enquirer and believe what they read.

The only real agenda that the republican party has is to destroy the US, economically, socially, politically. and militarily.

6. Bwahaha - its like they are begging to lose control of congress.
More folks are suffering from economic insecurity.

More folks are very concerned about the war in Iraq and its implications for national security.

More folks are paying more for goods and getting less - and their wages are not keeping up with the increases in costs.

But the GOP recognizes that one of the most serious problems facing Americans today... Is the never seen, but often hyped by the GOP, pandemic of... Flag Burning.

Very interesting at how stunningly these folks are misreading the sentiments of the American Public.
