If I get this e-mail one more time, I'm gonna scream!!!
"This is a good idea from a former president of Coca-Cola".

Yeah, like he had something else to do with his free time now that he's not trying to kill off the union organizers at his plant in Columbia.

"If we all stop buying Exxon-Mobil gas, the price will have to come down".

And there really is an Easter Bunny! Santa Claus, and leprechauns too!

I haven't bought an Exxon-Mobil product since the Exxon Valdez disaster, and probably most people of a progressive bent haven't either.

We're living in a near, peak oil environment now. There are 2 new petroleum hungry economies out there now. China and India. Consumption is rapidly passing production capabilities. There is only one way to bring down the price. Get rid of your gas guzzlers. Start walking and riding a bike. Quit driving to your local Mall-Wart for a loaf of bread. Plan your travel more efficiently.

It's the law of supply and demand. You have a supply of money and the petroleum industry demands it!

Stop using so much fucking Gas!!!

1. That e-mail has been debunked at Snopes.
And Snopes agrees with you: Only way to impact prices is to use less gas PERIOD.

2. I agree!
The news has already reported that gas prices will go up this summer. Ever notice that this happens when summer rolls around? Every time you purchase a gallon of gas you're placing a vote for higher gas prices.

Quit driving around so much folks!

4. Oh geez, I just got that one too
I rarely ever use Exxon-Mobil. I go for the cheap stuff.

Why do my so-called friends send me this shit in email instead of just saying "Hi. How are you? What you been up to lately?"

5. The time has passed.
By using less gas, you'll spend less for gas. But supplies will not replenish, so the price will not come down.

The need is for alternative, renewable, non-polluting energy sources, that in themselves are energy efficient. Petroleum products have uses beyond burning them up, and the demand will continue even when they are not used for fuel.

9. You're right doc.
My comment assumes a working knowledge of physics, chemistry, biology, economics, and then some psychology and politics to apply it to practice.

Of course, a lot of DUers are there, but compared to the population, it's all uphill.

7. Exxon will just sell their shit to Shell or some other pigs
They'll probably make as much if not more wholesaling....and people who believe that one oil company is somehow better or worse than another will be comforted by not buying from them?

I, too, prefer the USE LESS GAS option!
