Who is gonna be the new Joe Wilson?
To sell us on his war on Iraq, bush sent Joe Wilson to Niger. Upon reporting back that Iraq had no Niger connection for uranium, The administration leaked the name of Joe's wife. A number of funny questions come to mind pertaining to this. One, Niger is such a poor country, how could they have any uranium to sell to Iraq? Second, anyone notice how the White House pounced on the idea that Iraq might get nuclear material from Niger but DID NOT have any problem with Niger having them to begin with?

But the big question is ... who will be the next Joe Wilson? George needs someone to say Iran actually has a nuke. Who will it be?

1. Everyone
The generals coming out against what Rumsfeld has done will - I hope to god I'm right here - cause everything that ratfucker touches to be regarded with suspicion.

And no other country in the world is going to stand with us. Witness Blair already backing away. Another ratfucker.

2. I don't think they need a Joe Wilson this time....
the President of Iran is announcing it himself.

4. No he hasn't
He says they are pursuing nuclear energy ... not a nuclear bomb. Big difference there.

8. It makes me nervous, too. Which is an additional reason we should have
been paying more attention to Iran instead of focusing on the crushing of a non-threat in Iraq. (Not that I want Iran crushed. I'd like it left alone except for sanctions) It seems to me we'd have had a far easier time of getting their nuclear program stopped with diplomatic pressure, before they'd succeeded in achieving the first step.

3. Welcome to DU
but it think you've got some catching up to do?

First, Bush did not send Wilson to Niger, the CIA did.

Second, the only export that Niger produces is yellowcake uranium. Apparently, the stuff 'grows' there.

The French are in charge of mining operations and production and have always maintained a tight control over the operation.

5. Let's see, I'll put five dollars on Ahmed Chalabi for manufacturing
intelligence that Iran has a nuke. And ten dollars on Ahmed Chalabi for getting those Yellow Cake Papers forged for Bushco. Ah, if we could only get somebody to "drop a dime" on the story of bushco putting Chalabi up to it. 'Cause I've just got a feeling that's exactly what happened.

7. Yellowcake is a resource in Niger and some neighboring countries.
They don't just trade yellowcake; they produce it.

As Ambassador to the area, Joe Wilson knew all about the yellowcake industry - (it's diamonds in some other parts of Africa, cocao, rubber, etc. in other parts). He was ideally suited to go there = knowledge of their commerce, spoke perfect French, knew the people. But they decided to trash him and expose Brewster-Jennings.

One little trip at the request of the CIA, but PNACers didn't like the message or the messenger.
