11. The funny thing about the official Catholic propaganda on John Paul 1

Is that it goes way, way, way, out of its way to say he wouldn't have changed a thing. It's kinda chilling. He was famous in Italy for being a rebel and was continuously quoted while Archbishop of Venice as taking stands on issues in direct opposition to the Pope. Even got reprimanded. And yet, history has recorded him as being kind of lukewarm and a standard issue priest. There is much reason to believe that he was planning BIG changes, had perhaps informed the inner circle of Vatican power and was on the threshold of making an announcement of some sort. He was a nice man, too. Laughed a lot. Built a lot of orphanages and spoke out against old ideas that stigmatized unwed mothers.

Also jogged a lot.

You see, as an autonomous "state" Vatican City is not under any obligation to have autopsies, etc.
