From Midge Potts's website
http://www.pottsforcongress.com/:"Those anti-abortionists who are against family planning are not thinking sensibly. Birth control, especially condoms, should definitely be available for those who do not choose abstinence. Suggesting that abstinece is the best form of "safe sex" does seem to be a good starting point for teaching sex education. However, the issue of abortion extends beyond any one age group, and it is not just unmarried teenagers who are choosing abortion.
Many of the women who make the choice to abort a fetus are married or in committed relationships. However they feel they are not financially able to provide for another child in their family. I feel it is actually very responsible to realize that if you cannot afford food, shelter and healthcare for a child, then it would be better to not bring one into the world. If we in America put more effort into bringing people out of poverty, the abortion rate would undoubtedly drop."
I first read her statement about being baptized and her Christian values and thought "Uh-oh" but then I read her abortion page, and while it's not perfect, it's pretty damn good.
On edit: the rest of her positions aren't too bad; on some I agree without reservations. Don't care about her gender status - that's her business - but I do wish her luck.
