7. Someone with that much influence in domestic policy should be
listened to, at least by the idiots who vote for his programs. Problem is, very few Republicans realize that Grover Norquist wrote the cocktail napkin for the current Republican-Libertarian giveaway of our resources.

Brian Lamb refuses to acknowledge the Fair article showing his repuke bias on C-Span. I am certain he is a neo freak too.

I had not heard of the study until your post. I always thought Lamb to be a bit RW, myself.

C-SPAN Slanting Right
Washington Journal's guestlist lacks balance

12/19/05

In the December issue of Extra!, FAIR published a study of the guest list on C-SPAN's Washington Journal. Though C-SPAN's "flagship viewer call-in program" prides itself on its reputation for fairness, FAIR's study found that reputation does not reflect reality. But C-SPAN's response thus far has been silence.

Extra! studied Washington Journal's guestlist, tabulating all 663 guests who appeared on the show in the six-month period from November 1, 2004 to April 30, 2005. Guests were classified by gender, ethnicity, party affiliation (if any) and occupation. The study also looked at the think tanks most prominently represented on the show.

Among the most striking findings:

Of the partisan guests, Republicans outnumbered Democrats nearly two to one (134 to 70). Not a single representative of a third party appeared during the study period.

People of color made up only 15 percent of Washington Journal's guestlist (100 out of 663). People of African and Asian heritage accounted for 4 percent each, while those of Middle Eastern and Latin American descent represented 3 percent each. No Native Americans were identifiable during the six months studied.

Male guests outnumbered women by four to one, at 80 percent to 20 percent. Moreover, 69 percent of guests were white males, while just 3 percent were women of color.

Journalists accounted for nearly a third of all guests (32 percent), the largest single occupational group on the guestlist. Of opinion journalists, 32 were right-of-center while only 19 were left-of-center.

3. In Grover's case, they found him in a dumpster behind a secret
Edited on Mon Apr-17-06 07:53 AM by Old Crusoe
chemical lab in Omaha.

Some kids happened to be riding by on their bikes and there was this stinking, gelatinous mass writhing horribly, half in and half out of the dumpster, rats gnawing on its streaming ooze.

Alertly, the kids told their folks who in turn called 911, and they dispatched a HazMat crew out there to retrieve the menacing, revolting matter from the alleyway.

Somehow the doctors were able to save the thing and it went on to become Grover Norquist.

Never discount the miracles of modern medicine.

On another occasion this same host (Steve?) suggested the Dan Rather "forged document" incident put an end to Bush's AWOL controversy.

12. Why hasn't Grover been indicted along with Jack Abramoff?
It's well-documented that they were principal funnels by which foreign money flowed into the GOP. Why isn't a U.S. Attorney investigating this? See, http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/1/3/10145/56290

21. When they're finally brought down, it's for the "lesser, included charges"
that don't tell us about the bigger crimes of state.

Like Watergate and the Church Committee, the real "family jewels" always go into the burn bag or they're socked away into the private files of guys like G.H.W. Bush, who wait a couple years and then call the goons back into service.

15. How old is this guy? He looks like a freakin' College Republican!
I've never seen a picture of him, I always assumed he was one of the cranky old white men brigade, a la Cheney and Rummy. But now it appears we have a goddam fucking CHILD who is making these policies and is responsible for setting the wheels in motion to destroy our nation? I'm sick.

18. Answered my own question
I just found his bio. He graduated Harvard with an MNA in 1981, so I guess he's actually not that young. I guess his relatively youthful appearance can at least partially be attributed to the fact that he's never worked an honest day in his life.

24. Grover is a doppleganger SDS,sort of an inside-out radical Leninist
who's gone over to serve the Dark Side. Getting away with felonies, and disrupting and subverting American institutions, makes him happier than any Weatherman.

Grover is a guy who really hates America, at least as it was under Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton.

Imagine what Jerry Rubin would have been like if he's taken a different path, and you've got Grover Norquist.

22. That was his parting shot before the segment ended. Is this just more
over-the-top, in-your-face lying? I'm going to google a bit, but seems Norquist, along with Delay, started the K-street project back in '95. The Big Lies are coming fast and furious these days!
