"I don't even want to talk about it"
That is an exact quote from the chair of the Political Science Department at my university on the Scalia incident, I had to give her a paper that I owned her from class the other week, so I decided I should go to her office today, and give it to her. And she told me that the incident is not to be talked about, but she did appear somewhat mad at me. Also apparently it is well known among the professors in the political science department, because several of them have told me that they heard about what happen, and this message board is now known among the staff too, regarding my posting on the incident because they have also told me they know about it.

Just wanted to keep you updated on what's going on.
-DemGirl7 :)

And to any lurking trolls out there I have a message to you all...."Get a Life":grr:

1. If any of it comes back to bite you make sure you
keep any and all documentation for the Dean. For a poli.sci. department they should know better than anyone how politics and citizenship works. I guess they don't believe their own lessons.

7. Hey DemGirl's Dean: Wise choice.
Better to keep silent and be thought a fool than to speak and prove it once and for all.

8. Thanks, and keep your chin up
Fighting freepers with facts is not always fun, but hopefully others will be educated by your efforts. That is why we need to take back the House, Senate and White House. If we don't, the next time there is a "Scalia incident" it could wind up with someone in jail for using the first amendment.

10. I wonder- if your question really came from supreme "ignorance",
as the justice seemed to think... why not simply answer it? Ignorance is easily countered with information. Hmm... it's almost as if he were... dishonest or something!

12. Very Good Job!
Everyone else is right, when you speak truth to power it really does get their dander up. You boxed him into a corner with the truth, then backed it up with facts. I would say your school should be proud of you for your knowledge and chutzpah rather than ashamed.

13. The most troubling aspect of this is that....every day we
see more instances of being punished for asking our public officials questions that should and could be easily answered......

Is it that the President and the Supreme Court Justices are Supreme Officials...kinda like in China and Russia and they answer to no one...

Why should you asking a question be viewed as disrespetful....What you did was express your American right to question our officials that supposedly represent us.....

Good for you...you did what most people don't have the guts to do....

15. You are exactly right.
However, the fascist regime currently in power feels that they do not owe explanations to anyone.

16. DemGirl7 -- you rock!!
Maybe the chair of the Political Science Department should take an "Intro to Political Science" class. How can the chair of a Political Science Department get upset at a student for asking a legitimate question?

Fucking hypocrite!

18. You can talk about it here ANY TIME YOU LIKE.....
You didn't do anything wrong at all. You asked legitimate questions. Those were questions we all should be asking. Those are questions we should be seeing echoed in the press daily.

20. Remind your professors........
That it's not against the law to question a judge......even a Supreme Court Judge. Also remind your professors............that there's a lil thing called freedom of speech.......at least there was until Bush took office and tried to stifle it.
