a thread was started asking where is liveoak. i have missed her but didnt know what had happened. the thread was moved to lounge, but many that know, appreciate and value liveoaktx dont go into the lounge. so i thought i would start a thread of appreciation for liveoak, and above is the link to the original thread. if you value what liveoak gave all us on this board, jump into the thread and let liveoak know how you feel.

My god, what is the world coming to when websites expect you to know how to deal with issues concerning alternative browsers. I mean, isn't that the job of websites? To make sure that clueless people are able to access their information? To be honest I can't believe liveoaktx even bothered to "fix" the problem, especially since many Firefox users, myself included already knew about ActiveX/Firefox issues and took steps to solve them. But, you know what I have noticed about *search* at DU sometimes? I've noticed that I can search on a subject using the same info and still get different results - within minutes of the search. I've been meaning to contact the powers that be here to let them know when this happens. Also, sometimes, I can do a search and get the "no results message" and then turn right back around and do the same exact search and get three pages of results. I don't know why, it just seems inconsistent. Or maybe it's operator error. :)

on and she was very hurt and very angry and I tried to persuade her not to let those idiots get to her, but she felt abandoned.. It would seem that evening, 2 people in particular had a personal vendetta against her site and trashed it on that thread... Her husband and I counter-punched that evening for her, till they finally locked the thread, but not before it stood for 24 hours which gave it enough time for every Tom, Dick and Harry to put their 2 cents in as well....

Keep posting that you miss her, I think it will help, I wrote to her and told her to check out the thread so she will realize, it is just a few who want to spoil the whole bunch.....

BTW, the referenced thread was not the first time, by any means, that she was being publicly trashed. It has happened several times when she posted video links and had certain posters come into the thread and begin hurling accusations and criticisms.

I didn't know she'd disappeared - if it's over the thread I'm thinking of then I'm now regretting not having stuck my nose in it...I read it, and declined to post. It seemed like a bunch of nasty carping freeperism to me, but there were not many posts when I checked it, and I never looked at it again. I'm going to have to go search to see if it is that one.

People are completely "revising history" in the claim that liveoaktx was "attacked".

A DU'r got frustrated because CoF had become completely dysfuctional with their web browser, and hence posted a mini rant.

It was mostly a "technical" issue yet suddenly got characterized as a personal attack against liveoaktx.

Other people posted their frustrations and technical difficulties they were having, in response, and they too got labeled as "attackers".

Several others simply made suggestions/comments that we were surprised CoF didn't advertise to generate some extra cash. We were PERSONALLY accused by liveoaktx of butting into her business for making the suggestion and, as a result, I was banned from CoF for making the suggestion. I know this was the reason because liveoaktx sent me a "final" personal message at CoF telling me so before she blocked my IP address from accessing the CoF site.

As if that weren't over reaction enough, another DU user (that wishes to remain anonymous) PM'd me and told me that he too had voiced the suggestion of putting advertising on CoF. He said that he was baited by a "friend" of liveoaktx to download some "test" video at CoF. What the DU user didn't know is that when he clicked on the link to CoF, it revealed his IP address to CoF. Shortly afterwards, he realized he had been tricked because he was now permanently blocked from CoF.

The entire situation was bizarre and I think the reason liveoaktx is gone from DU is because she is embarrassed about the way they reacted. I also wonder if that little "IP bait" trick was frowned upon by the DU moderators/Admins.

Just a thought.

It's great that so many DU'rs enjoyed liveoaktx's posts. I did too, but alas and for obvious reasons, whether or not liveoaktx comes back is of no consequence to me.

One of the points is that a DU'er was taking the videos from her site and reposting them on his own. He said that this was in order to convert them to a different format. She wasn't comfortable with that -- and who can blame her? she was, after all, doing all of the videocapture and editing-- and asked him to stop, and he refused and started cyberstalking her.

In light of that I can't blame her for being a bit worried about things.

The person that was doing that video "hotlinking" was from Seattle and had a some cable access show and a website. His name was "Mike Hunt" (sick name, eh?) and he was "hotlinking" the videos from his website that was dominated by porno advertising.

I am aware of who this guy was because he emailed me to ask if it was okay if he borrowed one of my videos at www.file83.com to post at his site, and "bip" (aka liveoaktx) at Can-o-fun mentioned him by that name.

Needless to say, that guy had no affiliation with the DU, so that would not be the reason for liveoaktx to disassociate with the DU.
