I am not leaving.
Edited on Mon Apr-17-06 05:06 PM by derby378
This is my country, and I'm staying.

If George W. Bush hates America so much, he's free to leave. But I'm not budging.

Who's with me?

My did sail in the Navy in WWII in to the Pacific, and my brother didn't go to Iraq in 1991 to see W turn this country into an imperial clown car filled with fat-fingered, oil worshipping, self-indulging global rapists. I think we need to fight them until they cry "uncle" and leave.

Not saying the thought hasn't crossed my mind more than once, especially when it seems I just can fight any more, and just can't take the crap going on any more.

However, when I mentioned it to my husband once, he said, "You won't leave. You're too much of a fighter, and this country means too much to you to desert it." He's absolutely right. So here I am, and here I'll stay!

And as far as I am concerned, Bush can go live with his oil rich buddies, and leave us alone.

We were forsaken by the rest of the USA last year, and now our levees are in worse shape than before Katrina. I know many people on this board have done a lot to help, but it is not near enough. We need BILLIONS OF DOLLARS and highly skilled engineers and planners RIGHT NOW! .. not a few drunk contractors from Texas with their Mexican slaves.

If New Orleans is left again to die, I will leave this country for good. :(

41. This is my country regardless if I stay or go
I've lived overseas and I voted in US elections at the same time (and there was a paper trail!) so this whole leave or go thing is just so odd to me. I can write my Congress people from anywhere. I can donate to PAC's and the Democratic Party and I can still post on DU from anywhere. Physically living on American soil doesn't make one more patriotic than an American lving somewhere else...it just means they live somewhere else.

Staying is only responsible to a certain point. Then it becomes madness... if not suicide.

To continue an analogy from up thread: when your loving spouse becomes an abuser, it's time to go. I'm waiting and observing. That doesn't make me irresponsible or a coward, and it's insulting that people on DU refer to expats that way.

Sometimes you just gotta protect your beloved country from its government. That time is now.

The Founding Fathers would despise George Bush. They would expect all of us to stand against what he is trying to do. I take comfort in that.
