Shouldn't Fred Phelps be celebrating instead of protesting at funerals?

What is he protesting? I have seen his website from what I read he believes the United States should live under a set of laws he has come up with based on racism, sexism and homophobia. He believes the United States is in a state of evilness because we do not live under such laws. And that the members of the military are helping this "evil." According to Phelps it is a good thing when they die.

So why would he protest at their funerals? What is he protesting? Why would he not be having a celebration at their funerals? Why does he not show up with a party hat and music to celebrate something that is occurring because of something he feels is a good thing, the death of an American service member?

BTW, some cultures do celebrate the passing of a loved one. They see it as the time of reunion of the soul with the One Being. Sufis call this the Urs, or Wedding Night-although we don't wear party hats, we have been known to dance as we celebrate the life of one who has gone to join the Beloved.

I think he uses the term "protest" to try to align what he is doing with something most Americans feel is a basic right. The fact is he is not protesting, it would be like the anti-choice people "protesting" the overturning of Roe. :shrug:

That's why he has to lash out with his self hating crap on grieving families. If Phelps really was as patrotic as he claims how come he never enlisted?
