The Michael Jackson Trial

I'm curious about what people think (or know of) Michael Jackson. I didn't really follow his trial very closely, because, to be honest, I never had much interest in the man. But a few weeks ago I was browsing the CD shop, trying to decide on some good tunes - and someone suggested Michael Jackson's number 1 hits. I thought, oh what the hell. Strangely, I found myself really liking his music. I think there's just an amazing amount of compassion and empathy in his songs, perhaps I'm seeing more to it than there is though. It's my understanding that people who know Jackson personally regard him as a kind, gentle, generous man. I'll grant that he's quite odd, but I wonder what his character is like. What's the general consensus of his trial? Do you think he really mollested the kid, or was it just someone trying to milk him for all he was worth?

I'm a child of the 90s, so by the time I was getting into music, Jackson's era had pretty much passed. Still, I'm interested in finding more about him - and his trial.

P.S. I have a friend who is a psychologist in Canada, and who has worked with sexually abused children, and he has not a doubt in his mind that MJ is a serial child sexual abuser.

You are capable of presenting your ideas in such a manner that you often manage to get in the last word.

I used to have a dial-up connection at home and my personal time is limited. A simple "thank you" could take five minutes to post, compared to the 30 seconds it does now that we have high-speed.

There are those for whom sharing the information is enough. Not everybody needs gratitude.

13. I understand what you're saying. I've felt that way before too.

Blame it on the internet.

We're in a different communication medium here, and it's hard to remember that the protocols of face-to-face conversation (or telephone, for that matter) aren't the same, because there are intervening factors that we can't see.

For example: your thoughtful post about CourtTV was posted last night, and the OP hadn't replied to you by this morning. Perhaps the OP just hasn't had a chance to see your post, or perhaps he saw it, followed the link, and that led him elsewhere.... and is now deeply involved in another thread that may change the world as we know it. :)

It's frustrating to be met with silence sometimes. Particularly when trying to be funny, or being a threadkiller in the Lounge. I've been there. Oh, yes, I've been there.

7. Jackson peaked with his Off the Wall and Thriller albums

Both are pop masterpieces that still sound good today, and changed pop music forever.

That said, I think the rest of his music since then has sucked royally. Rather than making music, I think he was dealing with his own psychological problems on these latter albumns, "Leave Me Alone", etc.

As far as his child molestation goes, I didn't follow the trial(s), but he was indeed found not guilty. Still doesn't mean that I would let my kid spend any time under his care.

And his personal image, allegations aside, is just a tad weird. I think that he has spent the majority of his life dealing with issues about his early life and his parents, and I would have to say, I don't think that he has dealt with them well.

Has a creepy portrait of himself being dressed by naked child-like Cherubs? Check

If some single guy down the street from you did the same things, he would probably be in jail right now.

12. Reasonable doubt as far as the trial.

Reasonably off his rocker as far as his noggin.

Personally, I think a lot of people took advantage of him, from his family when he was a kid, to people who leveled, probably, false accusations at him, to the lawyers who took him for all he was worth.

He had the one insanely good album back in 84(?) but that music wasn't really his. He was sort of a one man boy band.
