Plan for Bird Flu? Ha ha ha!!
Edited on Mon Apr-17-06 08:13 PM by sparosnare
Bush has been sitting in the Oval Office assuming the Presidency for the past 5 years. Have any of his plans/policies been right, or implemented properly? Does anyone think this adminstration really cares if we all die from bird flu? Of course they don't. So any 'plan' they may have will be designed for their own selfish purposes, not for the good of the people.

So here's my advice. Don't depend on them, you're gonna have to take care of yourself.

First of all - remember - there won't be a pandemic unless the avian flu virus gains the ability to spread easily from human to human. It hasn't happened yet, and there's no guarantee it will. Don't panic even if birds in the US become infected.

Second - be prepared. Stockpile bottle water, canned food; any supplies that can sustain you/your family for 3-4 months of self-quarantine. You may have to stay in your house without outside contact for that long. DO NOT depend on the government to take care of your basic needs.

Third - and I never thought I'd say this - might be a good idea to own a gun. If the worse case scenario happens, things are going to get ugly and it'll be every man for himself. Your home and belongings may need to be protected.

1. "Our plan is to
have no plan at all. If we had a plan, we wouldn't fund it!"
I thought the exact same thing today. I am preparing my "emergency room" and am actually, for the first time in my life, thinking about... the gun thing... :(
Yes, don't panic - be prepared - I can not stand to think that I am thinking this way.

3. Exactly
I have backup supplies now. And not just for "bird flu" but for other natural disasters, should they occur. It's a good idea to have backup supplies anyway, I just didn't have squat til Katrina.

8. I agree.
I even refill bottled water water bottles with tap water and store for cleaning, etc. just in case.

Also, I don't know why they are telling us to horde tuna when soup makes more sense--its not just mercury and protein and can be heated in the can if need be.

4. it doesn't need to jump to humans. Just think of the impact of the loss
of ALL birds in our food chain. No chicken, turkey or duck. You are looking at the loss of approx 2/3rds of all of the animal protein consumed in the U.S. If there was no chicken, the price of beef and pork would skyrocket and the supply of meat would drop quickly. Under this situation food of many kinds would become expensive and hard to get, a people who have never seen empty shelves except for the day before a "big snow" would experience a major culture shock and a realignment of reality.

7. Their only plan is to suspend the Bill of Rights once and for all
and don't kid yourself, this is the first and only thing they will do.

Everything else will be window dressing, a few Potemkin immunization projects and a lot of hot air.
