GW Bush: Washington Outsider
Anyone seen Fred Barnes' ridiculous Bush book? I saw it today in the bookstore and just about fell down laughing when I thumbed through it. He tries to make the claim that Bush is some kind of political outsider or rebel, fighting against an ingrained *liberal establishment*.

It really just blows me away- this crap truly belongs in the fiction section. Still- I looked it up on Amazon when I got home, and some of the reader reviews are pretty fun.

1. That's the funniest thing I've seen all day
There ain't no Washington insider more inside than this fucker. But if you've ever seen this barnes idiot on Faux, you'd understand how he could write something like this with a straight face. That "outsider" bullshit plays well among the yahoos out here in Jesusland but nothing vould be further from the truth.

3. That's what kills me about it.
I honestly don't think I could come up with a single person (or Administration) that's more "insider" than GW Bush and his group. It's so ridiculous.

5. The "liberal" establishment
Yes, I wonder what House Speaker Pelosi thinks of the book. Or Majority Leader Harry Reid? I wonder what Supreme Court Chief Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg thinks of the book. How about a comment from Vice President Edwards?

7. Not an Outsider; more like an Outcast. The DC analstocracy has turned on h

Barnes characterization is of course nonsense, Bush is no outsider. He's more of an outcast at the moment.

We are hearing things coming out of the beltway boobs that we have never heard before -- signs that the insiders have turned.

Little things:
  • like Wolfe saying "Republican-led Congress," instead of just "Congress" when he reports the 60% disapproval.
  • like Bill Schneider saying "That is what got him elected -- at least by the electoral college -- in the year 2000." (It was the first time I heard him modify "Bush was elected" in a way that indicates something wasn't kosher.)
  • like Craig Crawford on Olbermann essentially telling Dems they had better nationalize the election by talking about Impeachment/Censure and thus "put Bush on the ballot." (Tonight's transcript isn't up yet, but it's worth a read -- and make no mistake, Crawford is an insider.)

These are only the most recent that come to mind. The specifics are hazy, but I've noticed countless subtle, and not so subtle, indications that the worm has turned.

8. Bullshit, chimpie is the son of a US President, and the grandson
of a United States Senator. The whole Bush family is part of the beltway insiders.
