Rumsfeld:War Critics Manipulated By Zarqawi and Bin Laden Media Committees
Rumsfeld: War Critics Being Manipulated By Zarqawi and Bin Laden’s ‘Media Committees’

Yesterday on Rush Limbaugh, embattled Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld said that those who criticize the Iraq war are being manipulated by terrorists, including Zarqawi and bin Laden, through the U.S. media:
There have always been people who have opposed wars…I think we just have to accept it, that people have a right to say what they want to say, and to have an acceptance of that and recognize that the terrorists, Zarqawi and bin Laden and Zawahiri, those people have media committees.

They are actively out there trying to manipulate the press in the United States. They are very good at it.

So, according to Rumsfeld, the media isn’t just failing to report the “good news” from Iraq, it is being actively manipulated by terrorists. Those that are critical of the war are simply buying into the propaganda.

The only way to circumvent the terrorist-influenced U.S. media, apparently, is to listen to Rush Limbaugh.

5. First off-I'm not being manipulated if anything I have resisted it
Hell it works-even I watered down my assessment of WMD's before the war saying "Well there might be SOME there but they...." and so forth when I knew damned well there weren't any. See it does work.

Secondly-does OBL have this media committe in his cave? In the isolated mountaneous region of Pakistan that he is supposedly hiding in or did Rummy just let out a litte secret.

BTW_ Rummy was on Hannity last week. He seems to be doing the RW nutjob media rounds.

6. I wonder if the weasly press will now back off? I am sure that the associa
tion with terrorists will not be to their ego. We may think it the most ridulous thing we have heard in a long time--but the press is skiddish!

7. Apparently retired generals sit on these media committees
If you don't like war, it's because you're brainwashed by the terrorists! We got more killing to do here, get in line!

8. Living in such a paranoiac universe has to extract an enormous
toll from its practitioners. Of course there will always be war critics; in my universe, everyone who is of a rational bent is a priori critical of war. There are very sound reasons for civilians to be in ultimate control of the military.
Those who see, as Rumsfeld apparently does, war as a useful, well oiled tool, to be exercised as an opening card, are too dangerous to be in charge of those policies. In the society that we wish to create, war is only a tool to be used reluctantly, after all other tools have proven to be ineffective and with little or no enthusiasm.
I detest bullies of any stripe and choose to work closely with only those who emphasize cooperation and at least some willingness to compromise, in the interest of avoiding that particular bullying associated with the desperate need to be right and win at all costs.
The experiment in running this country by allowing the children, especially the aggressive, spiteful ones, to occupy positions of power has proven, once again, to be non-workable in a mature society. High time it was ended and the adults put in charge.

9. The False Choice Administration
You're either with us, or you're against us.
If you don't support us, you support the terrorists.

When paranoid sharks sit in statesmen's chairs...Well, it's like a former boss of mine used to say to explain bad performance and mismanagement of our competitors: "A fish rots from the head."

12. I am just real sure that critics of the war are under the spell of bin
Laden.

Not a doubt in my mind.

Bin Laden himself is likely living on the sly in one of the general's basements. Joan Beaz probably makes grocery runs so bin Laden can avoid detection and keep a low profile.

And the liberal media is right there to cover it up, as they always do!
