Although it's actually an M240 machine gun, aka the FN MAG. That was the one that virtually every NATO country except the US used. SU troops got stuck with the M60 up until a few years ago. Apparently it was well known as the world's worst machine gun--plagued by jamming, breakage, and lousy human engineering (e.g., changing a hot barrel was ridiculously complicated and required wearing an asbestos glove--which of course you'd always have with you and never lose, even in the middle of a big battle).

Only took 40-odd years for someone to progress from "This thing sux" to "We should use the other one". And a few billion dollars. And probably a few thousand lives...
