Freeps Mount War on CInco de Mayo...lol

BOYCOTT CINCO DE MAYO

Its a Stinko Goodbye-O to the 2006 Cinco De Mayo

You've heard the news stories. Illegal Mexican Immigrants marching in the streets, demanding amnesty and attacking Americans who want to protect our country by sealing its borders. Tell them to go protest and wave their Mexican flags in their own country.

It's the Americans Turn to Protest ... BOYCOTT Cinco De Mayo

15. I know we always partied on May 5th when I lived in San Antonio.
I was a newbie in town and wasn't quite sure what was being celebrated, but there was a great parade on the river down at the River Walk, and everybody had a great time!

I just checked Wikapedia, and May 1st is different that Cinco de Mayo as far as I can tell.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/May_Day

May Day is a name for various holidays celebrated on May 1 (or in the beginning of May). The most famous of these is International Workers' Day, which is the commemoration of the social and economic achievements of the labor movement. The 1 May date is used because in 1884 the Federation of Organized Trades and Labor Unions, inspired by Labor's 1872 success in Canada, demanded an eight-hour workday in the United States, to come in effect as of May 1, 1886. This resulted in the general strike and the U.S. Haymarket Riot of 1886, but eventually also in the official sanction of the eight-hour workday.

when it is because the rethugs of the 20s didn't like the idea of celebrating an 'international workers' i.e., commie, holiday.

ON EDIT: It was the rethugs of the 1880s, not the 1920s. As usual, I posted first, then researched.

29. It must be depressing to be a Freeper
The office I worked in before I retired loved to celebrate any holiday, because it was a good excuse to bring food and have a god time. We celebrated Cinco de Mayo, Juneteenth, St. Patrick's Day, and any other holiday that came up. Since we were working, we all brought dishes, set them out on a long table, then filled our plates before lunch or breaks.

We played appropriate music, sometimes wore things that suited the holiday being celebrated, and just had a good time in general. We were in a union, so the vast majority of us were democrats, and rather than get mad because it was another country's holiday, we had a good time. Republicans must be the most miserable people on earth, because they spend so much time consumed in hatred of so many people.

Every time I look over their site I get a feeling of utter disgust that's hard to describe. It's like looking at bad porn where the participants are particularly revolting. It triggers a gag reflex and makes you just want to turn away.

40. Cinco de Mayo was NOT manufactured by US companies.
It is not a major holiday in most of Mexico but was adapted by Mexican-Americans as an opportunity to express their pride.

Just as Irish-Americans started having parades on St Patrick's Day--originally a strictly religious day in the Old Country.
