US will keep close eye on gasoline prices: Bush
Thank God, our glorious leader is keeping a watchful eye out for price gouging. Bush's "base," Exxon, et al., is quaking in its collective boots.

US will keep close eye on gasoline prices: Bush

Apr 18, 2006 — WASHINGTON (Reuters)
- President George W. Bush said on Tuesday he is "concerned" about high gasoline prices, and pledged that the government will keep a close watch out for profiteering.

"I'm concerned about higher gasoline prices," Bush said. "The government has the responsibility to make sure that we watch very carefully and investigate possible price-gouging, and we will do just that."

2. They will keep an eye on profiteering...a little too late for that now...
since the oil companies have made record profits the last couple of years...putting the fox in charge of the hen house.....that always turns out real well.....

6. Keeping an eye on them
and doing something about it can be two different things. I keep an eye on sky high prices as well, but can't do anything about them.

8. * administration definition of price gouging is local gas stations
charging unjustified high prices.
* definition has no application to oil corporations.
Therefore no chance of noticing any price gouging.

10. Yep, he'll keep an eye on them alright.
He'll just sit back and watch as they go up and up and up, all the while chortling about the money he's making in his "blind" trust, which is loaded with oil investments:grr:
