Bush Concerned About Rising Gas Prices

President Bush says he is concerned about the affect rising gasoline prices will have on the U.S. economy. Some of the record increases come from investor worries about the stand-off over Iran's nuclear program.

President Bush says a variety of global forces are to blame for crude-oil prices topping $70 a barrel.

"There is tight supply worldwide, and we have got increasing demand from countries like India and China, which means that, any disruption in supply, or perceived disruption of supply, is going to cause the price of crude to go up, and that affects the price of gasoline," he said.

The president says prices are also up on increasing domestic demand, as Americans are driving more, now that the cold winter weather is ending, and because states are switching their fuel-mix to a warmer-weather blend.

"The combination of these creates higher gasoline prices, and I am concerned about higher gasoline prices. I am concerned about what it means for working families and small business, and I am also mindful that the government has the responsibility to make sure that we watch very carefully, and investigate possible price-gouging, and we will do just that," added President Bush.

1. Oh, puh-leeze.
What he means to say is that they'll PRETEND to investigate price gouging while their oil buddies continue to rake in record profits on the backs of average Americans.

22. Anyone have that quote by AWOL/moron during '01 election critical ....
of Clinton/Gore for not "jawboning" down oil prices? They soared up to about $20 a barrel, I think and gas got over $1.25.

That quote should be jamed up the idiots ass, 10 time a day.

24. Bush said (then) the Clinton administration should be blamed for prices
averaging well over $1.50 per gallon because it squandered the goodwill built with oil producers by his father, former President Bush, in the Persian Gulf War and because it lacks an overall energy policy.

As president, Bush said he would urge Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Mexico to ''open the spigots'' and would remind them of the U.S. role in the 1991 war and of its economic bailout of Mexico.

4. and in other news in Dubai, OPEC spokes says, plenty of availability
the prices are driven by global politics not any fundamental issues of supply and demand.

Ok. Which do you want to believe? OPEC who have a history of using oil as a weapon and many of whom just funded the evil Hamas. OR George W. Bush a man who ran his oil business into near bankruptcy and who has a history of using his oily lies as a weapon?

before? Now that he's said that he is concerned we won't hear anything more on the matter from him because, after all, "he's decided" what's best! :puke: Truth is that he's delivered to the oil people---the ones with the tax cuts!

27. don't forget his Saudi puppet masters. They might drop the price of oil
soon, just temporarily, to keep BushCo in business in '06.

If Dems win, the oil corps and Saudi masters will soon be history because we're going to develop renewable energy sources so we can kiss their asses goodbye.

I'm guessing Georgie's answer to our problems is "resolve" the standoff by nuking Iran. Real subtle agenda, there. Not enough o's in smooth for this piece of crap.

17. What he really meant was, "I'm concered because my poll numbers
are in the low 30's. I need to find somebody to blame for this."

BushCo will go after small fish, like gasoline retailers, but it won't
go after Big Oil. BushCo is Big Oil. The Bushies did nothing after
Big Oil profiteered after Katrina and they won't do anything now.

Must eliminate all oil company taxes and institute immediate government grants, paid for by a tax on each gallon of gas.

Oh, if only it didn't sound so much like Bush...!

25. Oh yeah, we're being Enroned big time
Remember back to January 2001. As soon as the dimwit got control, Enron started gouging California. There was always a good reason--the power plants are down for maintenance; they're using too much power; it's not us, it's the speculators--but when the smoke cleared, it came down to Enron ripping off California with the blessing of the dimwit.

We're experiencing the same thing on a national scale now.

In a way, it's encouraging that big oil is ripping us off without shame and without consideration for the damage it's causing to dimwit's administration--it means they've given up on him. They know he's on his way out and they're hell bent on looting while they still can.

BushCo is also using the high gas prices as a bullshit reason to invade Iran...Any lie will do for the psychopathic asshole Bush!!

29. Goes something like THIS:
Bush: (knocks on door of Big Oil CEO friend's mansion)

Oil Mogul: Hey George! What's up?

Bush: You wouldn't happen to be price gouging oil consumers worldwide, would ya?

Oil Mogul: Of course not! Want to come in and have a beer?

Bush: Sure.

(Use pacing from "Fargo" scene where Jerry is supposedly "checking with his manager" about Tru-Coat pricing, but chats with his bud about tickets for the Golden Gophers hockey game.)

31. Sure, he'll investigate alright
His investigation will go something like this:

He will dress in his boots, jeans, 'Howdy-Doody' shirt with a string tie and a gold-dollar string draw, place a cowboy hat on his head and head for the Petroleum Club to have a few longnecks with the 'boyz'.

He'll say something like, 'how's buzness guys'. They will answer 'OK, could be better', and then they'll discuss the new 'Cowboys' cheerleaders, toss back a few shots of tequila and Junior will then head for the shower, confident that he got to bottom of the high gas prices being them dirty A-rabs are sticking it to his bud's and all they are doing is passing on their increased costs.

Then Rove will have some fax's sent to the news media discussing how Natalee had been spotted and the FBI was rushing in to find her.

That's how the price gouging will be handled. The problem is not the increased price, for them the problem is how it makes them look. So if the news media ignores it, the problem goes away. So they hope.
