Tom Cruise was only kidding (about eating placenta)
Cruise was only kidding
News sites take placenta-eating comment out of context and report it as fact

The Web is buzzing with the shocking “news” that Tom Cruise plans to eat the placenta after his girlfriend Katie Holmes gives birth.

Cruise’s comment – a joke he made during an interview with GQ – is being taken out of context and reported as legitimate news. Some sites are going so far as to quote medical experts on the topic of placenta-eating.

Cruise, 43, told GQ: "I'm gonna eat the placenta. I thought that would be good. Very nutritious. I'm gonna eat the cord and the placenta right there." When it was pointed out that it would be a big meal, Cruise replied: "OK, maybe I won't."

But most sites aren’t making note of the fact that Cruise was kidding.

2. Oddly enough
I don't think that "news" even ranks up there in the top 20 list of crazy things I have heard about Tom Cruise. First time I saw an OP with that headline today, I just shrugged. Tommy has set a higher bar than that for being batshitcrazyinsane.

3. I've been posting that this was a joke on several "placenta" threads
Unfortunately, most people still thought he was for real.

8. Why should we care? He meant the remark.
He is a loon and hopefully his career is over! He is a talentless hack. JMHO

22. My point is, how do you know it isn't true?
Tom Cruise said so? Please.

6. Turns out he already ate it.
He expect the fetus not to whine about it for the rest of the gestation.

13. I don't care whether it was a joke or not.
He creeps me the hell out. It's as if he wants to be pregnant himself, and since he can't, he's just going to absorb and consume every aspect of Katie's pregnancy--including the afterbirth--so that it can really all be all about him. The sonogram thing is the same deal--it's like Katie doesn't even need to be there, he can just watch his kid 24/7 on the WombCam.

If I were Katie Holmes I'd have fled and taken out a TRO by now. But, different strokes for different folks, I guess.

19. I think you are absolutely right, Plaid Adder...
His obsession with this pregnancy has nadda to do about Katie H--She is the incubator, that's all.

I also feel for his adopted chidren. How must they feel at the lengths he is going to immerse himself (literally) in the birth of his own biologic child.

Sickening, frankly. KH will regret this chapter of her life--I'm quite willing to bet on that.

15. I don't keep up with this stuff...
...when is the kid due?
Maybe the GOP can use the "To eat the placenta or not to eat the placenta" story to distract people from the important stuff...
Sometimes blonde white women stay out of trouble for weeks at a time...:sarcasm:

16. Get a clue, Tom. Somebody so far out there really can't afford
to be making jokes like that. Coming from you, it's entirely plausible.

17. We've got a bunch of total-hippie friends...I've heard some talk about
saving the placenta for 1 year and cook it/eat it on the child's first birthday.

More often though, they do save the placenta from the birth then bury it as they plant a new tree to mark the child's birth.

20. Farm dogs will typically grab the placenta passed with the birth
of a calf and have a good ole game of "tug of war."

That's the image I get when this subject keeps coming up. Poor little Katie can try and hold onto HER pregnancy for dear life (as metaphorically represented by her grasp on her own placenta)--but big star Tom Cruise is gonna take one big long tug, and it will be HIS!

18. Placenta helper
New from Betty Crocker "Placenta Helper", just add the ingredients from the box and simmer for 15 minutes. Serves a family of four. Dad says "I wish we could have this all the time", laughs at his own joke.
