I guess Bush and his pals have instituted a new War on Women....
With Bush's tendency toward war mongering, and the growing attacks on women's rights of late, I suspect there's an undeclared War on Women that's begun in the US. Can't have women controlling their own lives, telling men no, choosing their own fate... Must use the law against all these uppity women who think for themselves!

Personally, I'm SICK of Bush and the whole woman-hating bandwagon he rode in on... We need insurgents for the War on Women!

1. We need to convince more women of this.
Y'all control the majority of the population. There's no excuse why we can't head this off at the pass if we each (ie both men and women) try to convince our female friends that this is occurring and that it should be their highest voting priority. I know too many women who either don't know or don't care that their rights are being attacked.

I think we need to make the War on Women meme stick, but it has to be very clear that the war is being waged by REPUBLICANS and not by men in general.

13. You are right about making "War on Women" stick -- but
it has to be about more than abortion, that is the catch. It has to primarily be about leave for new parents, healthcare, childcare from employers and/or the government, discrimination, etc...

The name is perfect--it has major sticking power.

7. Love your first image..
just sent it to a republican co-worker. Was teasing her this morning on how she should be cooking for her husband at home. Isn't that what her party wants her to do.

3. It is not new. It has been going on since Bush started his campaign for

President. It is an integral part of the Fundie/Dominionist/Christian Reconstructionist agenda. Loss of reproduction rights are just the beginning. Ultimately they want women to lose the right to vote and own property.

http://www.religioustolerance.org/reconstr.htm

The status of women would be reduced to almost that of a slave as described in the Hebrew Scriptures. A woman would initially be considered the property of her father; after marriage, she would be considered the property of her husband.
It would be logical to assume that the institution of slavery would be reintroduced, and regulated according to Biblical laws. Fathers could sell their daughters into slavery. Female slaves would retain that status for life

The significance of the Reconstructionist movement is not its numbers, but the power of its ideas and their surprisingly rapid acceptance. Many on the Christian Right are unaware that they hold Reconstructionist ideas. Because as a theology it is controversial, even among evangelicals, many who are consciously influenced by it avoid the label. This furtiveness is not, however, as significant as the potency of the ideology itself. Generally, Reconstructionism seeks to replace democracy with a theocratic elite that would govern by imposing their interpretation of "Biblical Law." Reconstructionism would eliminate not only democracy but many of its manifestations, such as labor unions, civil rights laws, and public schools. Women would be generally relegated to hearth and home. Insufficiently Christian men would be denied citizenship, perhaps executed. So severe is this theocracy that it would extend capital punishment beyond such crimes as kidnapping, rape, and murder to include, among other things, blasphemy, heresy, adultery, and homosexuality.

Nothing would make this administration happier than the rule of a Christian Taliban.

4. That was pretty evident when one of
Bush officials in Iraq said that they'd be satisfied if Iraq had the same level of democracy that the US did in 1900.

6. Think of it as a sort of "Christian Sharia"
Take all the worst elements of one fundamentalist religious attitude toward women... and graft it onto christian fundamentalism. It's an easy fit.

Wheeee! American Taliban! Coming soon to a backward, stricken, medieval village near you!
