I just had the BEST phone call!
I run a small business in Orlando and yesterday I had a message from NRCC chairman Tom Reynolds to call his office. Of course I didn't. So they called me and wanted me to become a honorary board member of their Business Advisory Council. I asked why I would want to do that and the woman said so I could have face to face meetings with the "people in charge" to give them my opinions. I asked her what made her think they were interested in my opinions, and she answered that they really want to meet with business people who are concerned about lowering taxes and keeping Republicans in office. I told her I wanted to raise taxes because it's the only way we are going to lower the national debt. She said I would also receive confidential surveys to help inform them of the business community. So I told her I would love to have a survey and how did I go about obtaining it so I could tell them what I thought of their legislation. All I had to do was give them $500 or $700 to pay for an ad in the Wall Street Journal saying how much I supported the republican party and their platform. So I said I didn't support their platform at all and I wasn't going to pay for an ad supporting them at all. But, but, it would have my name on it and I would receive a copy suitable for framing. So I told her that I thought in the last five years the republican party had ruined my beloved country economically, internationally, and constitutionally and I would never ever again support the republican party again. A little lie since I never supported them in the first place, but they just made that assumption because I owned a business. Damn! that felt good.

5. Heh,
I actually wish I had kept her on the phone, but it got to be too much for me. She was still making offers to me as I hung up on her. Something about a gavel and lunch with a shrub, as if I could stomach anything while in close proximity to such a nauseating presence.

3. BTW, what percentage of your business' income is taken in taxes?
What's the local, state, and federal portion?

6. Bunches.
Actually, it's not too bad. Altogether I'm thinking it comes to 1/3. What really irks me is that I lease some equipment and I have to pay property taxes on the leased equipment, even though I don't own it, and a sales tax on the property tax. The lease companies got a good thing going.

7. Did they offer you "periodical" access?
I got a tape of Reynolds saying that and I told the Bushbot that I didn't want a magazine subscription. That left her sputtering.

11. No
However, I did have to listen to a 35 second tape of him during which time I made some quick notes as to how I would respond. They called me once last year and I stupidly told them up front that they couldn't pay me to support their corrupt party. I figured this time I would try to obtain information as well as counter all their lying talking points i.e. economy is booming blah blah blah.

9. If anyone gets a GOP fundraising letter in the mail,
Send it back in their postage-paid envelope and tell them how disgusted you now are with the GOP, and how you are no longer going to vote Republican. Because Republicans are probably opening and reading these... In our case, we actually had voted GOP (prior to 1992), so it's the truth. ;)

12. Kick in a little more moolah

and you could actually get your picture taken with Shit-for-Brains the next time he's in town.

Just like being at the zoo. You get a picture taken with a chimp.

You did good. And what you told her was the total undeniable truth.

13. You are absolutely correct.
She told me that I could go to Washington several times a year for "Advisory Meetings" (on my dime) and while there I would meet the Chiminator and and get a framed picture to hang on my wall. AAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Just that thought made my blood pressure rise. I refrained from answering what I would do with such photo as I'd probably end up in Gitmo.
