Dem Commercials for the fall - All Should Fade To Bush
Larry O'D on Olbermann tonight brought up a commercial that presaged the Republican rout of 1994. Basically it showed "Your Congressman" and then faded to a scary picture of Bill Clinton.

While O'Donnell didn't seem to feel it would work this time, I'm not sure I agree.

I'm of the opinion that we need to do exactly that: tie every Republican congresscritter to Bush. Let Bush be the albatross around their neck.

Ominous music... black screen... white lettering appears: Your Republican candidate for Congress.... disturbing music up in volume and intensity... the lettering fades out to a grainy picture of Bush grimacing menacingly.... hold for a chilling beat, then fade to black: "Had Enough? Vote Democratic."

I think Bush is their biggest weakness and every single Republican candidate should have relentless, not stop commercials tying their race to him.

3. Except our Democratic Party is too wussy to attack as they should
Edited on Tue Apr-18-06 09:07 PM by tom_paine
I am going to work like hell for them in the next five months, but it is getting really damned hard to work for "the party of the pink tutu leadership" as Bartcop is wont to call them.

WHY doesn't the leadership reflect one-hundredth of the legitimate anger of the base that is also deserved? Why do they keep "playing nice" when they just get a shiv in the ribs for their troubles? WHY do they ignore the mounting problem of extreem gerrymandering and privatized electronic voting machine corruption?

WHY? WHY? WHY?

Of course you are right...that would be a beautiful national commercial to run every god-damned hour for a month or two in all 50 states.

But is it going to happen, or anything remotely like it?

Honestly, I would put the chances at <2%.

WHY?

9. Because They Know What They Are Up Against, But Those Who Play Nice…
…might not have the contents of their personal phone calls appear on Faux News just before the election,
courtesy of the NSA and edited for maximum effect…
…might not get Diebolded into oblivion…
…or Wellstoned…

…this year.

10. Sadly, I believe you are correct
"You are a lesson in history to me, Sejanus. Of how a small mind without scruple, married to limitless ambition can destroy a nation full of clever men. You are a reminder that, above all, mankind needs a sense of smell."

--Asinius Gallus to Aelius Sejanus (the Dick Cheney of the Emperor Tiberius), "I, Claudius"

7. Show percentages of GOP incumbents' rubberstamping the bush agenda
If the disapproval numbers hold, this will work wonders in about 40 states.
