Anyone else just fed up with having to worry?
If it's not nuking Iran, or destroying the enviroment, turning the country into the 4th Reich, or it's a thousand other things (Most of which apply to my country as much as yours)

All I ever wanted was to get a job and start a band, I didn't ask for this shit. I'm sick of being scared, outraged, depressed and cynical all the time.

OK, I'm done now

10. I did the same. It was hard to enjoy it when I knew that there was
some truth behind "the comedy." That little squirrel with the acorn was funny, though.

My kids are 4 and 2 1/2 and I am worried that there will not be an earth left for them to live on. Now, I have to worry about our dipshit leader using nuclear weapons on another country.

This may sound morbid, but if for some reason a country decides to nuke us, I am taking the family to ground zero because life won't be worth living after that.

13. I look at pregnant women and feel sadness!
Now how fucked is that? And I went through years of infertility treatments to have both of my sons, 9 and 11 yrs old. I hate to say it but I wonder if I did the right thing bringing them into this world. It certainly looks like the end times to me.

I get what you are saying totally. I sucks. :(

16. Oh I can relate to that.
My boys are 10 (11 in May) and 8, and I wonder sometimes what I have gotten them into, if that makes any sense. We've been debating having one more child before we get too old... and this stuff has been weighing heavily on my mind. Part of me thinks it's important to have sane, progressive people of tomorrow to foster change, and part of me thinks it's just too late and I'd be setting them up for an extremely difficult life.

May you live in interesting times, indeed.

20. I am so glad to have someone who can relate
I tried explaining the BFEE to my 9 yr old last night. He was cool with it and then I realised, and told him, that he and his brother are the future of this country. And Thank God For Them!

25. Oil companies want the ice to melt so they can get to those oil caches
in Arctic Ocean. The USGS is taking a scientific expedition to the Arctic ocean supposedly to gather info on how to fight global warming.
And guess what? BP and Statoil are heavily involved in the project. The expedition is turning out to be nothing more than a survey to map gas and oil resources that will soon be available for exploitation.............
when more of the ice melts in the Arctic ocean......

(Geologists say that 1/4 of the world's oil and gas is in the Arctic.)

The USGS is helping map oil and gas reserves under the cover of studying and combating global warming.

Some UK scientists are protesting, but you know how little attention is paid to protests from the scientific community.

3. No one asks for it. We just get it.
We can either attempt to live with it or find new and creative ways to end it.

I prefer living with it.

4. Life wasn't meant to be safe or easy, but this is really getting to be
over the top ridiculous. Everyday it's something new, personally and nationally. I never thought I'd see the day when an administration could be so visibly corrupt and evil, get away with it, and flip us all the finger while they're doing it.

6. "illegitimati non carburundum" (very bad latin for "don't let the bastards
grind you down")

from a metaphysical standpoint, we get what we focus on--the more worry and fear, the more worry and fear. yes, the inmates are running the asylum, but we can decide to live our lives as if the lunatics didn't matter.

yes, it sounds very new-ageish and simplistic, but it really does help. I try to pay very little attention--don't watch the "news" on tv, only read the entertainment and style section of the paper, and only read the news here in DU--and live my life as if the sun is shining, the wine and chocolate are plentiful.

8. I feel the same way.
Just when it looked like we might get through the rest of Bush's second term without yet another huge tragedy, it looks like he'll start a war with Iran by bombing them, possibly with a nuclear weapon.

17. I've reached critical mess
over the mess our country has become, and the fact that we have an idiot madman at the helm who doesn't give a flying fuck what we, the people, think. And I'm not just sitting around worrying, I'm working to try to change the balance of power by getting/keeping local Dem reps elected. But doing something (as opposed to sitting in front of the tv fretting) isn't helping ease my mind.

More and more, I just want to hide under my bed (with the extra cans of tuna, powdered milk and duct tape) until it's over, whatever that means. But I know I--WE--can't do that.

My personal tipping point is the saber rattling about Iran. I mean, c'mon--we're going to NUKE another country?! That freaks me out. Big time. And I wouldn't put it past him. He's doing all the deciding, you know. Aaaarrrrrrgh!

23. Yes! Yes!! I have taken a few days off from the news stories.
I did have a better day today after reading the * quote about hearing voices and being the "Decider". I have giggled all day at the idiot.

Tomorrow I will get back to business of being scared, outraged, depressed, and cynical. I agree with you 100%, all those feelings are exhausting!

They aired the LibDems Spring Conference on C-SPAN today. I said to my husband, if they win the next general election we are SO moving back to the UK.

27. Yes, I was just thinking about this earlier
I'm just so damn tired of all the bullshit,of being scared of what comes next. These people are so fucking crazy, that I believe they'll do any damn thing they want and the hell with anyone who won't go along with them.
I've been thinking too about the billions of people who live on this planet who just want to live their life, who shouldn't be affected by what we do, but, they will be especially if this insane son of a bitch starts ww III.
