Heat Melts Records -- Dallas Morning News
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/041806dnmetweather.44047deb.html

"If Monday’s temperature reaches 98 degrees as predicted, it will mark the seventh day this year of record highs.

The highest temperature recorded on April 17 was 94 degrees, set both in 1913 and 1925, said Jennifer Dunn, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service."

The temperature for the day after Easter in Dallas was actually 101 degrees.

3. I lived in Dallas for five years.
I hated ALMOST every minute of it.
113 in freaking October one year.

I lived for Dec/Jan/Feb.

I couldn't wait to get the hell out of there.

Where am I now?

Freaking Kansas.

Almost as hot.
Way, way, more stupid and religiously insane.

Guess I'll move to Florida next.

5. Oh, yeah...Florida would be an excellent choice for someone that....
...hates the heat!! :-)

Here's the scoop on Florida during the summer...90 to 100 degrees F every day with 85 to 100 % humidity. The summer in Florida lasts roughly from February through December every year with a few infrequent cold snaps.

And then there are the hurricanes...think of them as 400 to 500 mile wide tornadoes.

Still want to go to Florida??

6. Move to North Carolina
The heat was one of the reasons I moved from Houston, TX to Raleigh, NC. My sister told me it was 91 degrees in Houston today, 72 degrees here.

7. emerald city

Dallas has always been a beautiful green city. When you look out the window of a tall building here you see an endless green ocean of tree tops.

I grew up in Texas and love the sun, heat and high humidity.

We get a little over 100 in late summer. 113 is more like Phoenix than Dallas.

101 is NOT normal for Easter in Texas. The bluebonnets and buttercups are going to fry.

16. I lived in Dallas for 10 years (but not consecutively)
The heat wasn't the only thing I hated about that town. Between the pollution and the snake pit of right-wing fundie hypocrites who stabbed me in the back the instant my back was turned, I can thank God this yankee went (close to) home.

17. stoic resolve
DFW is crawling with back stabbing fundi snakes. I have been bitten many times and I consider myself moderate. Sometimes I would really love to leave this hell hole.

This is my home. My family is here. I grew up here. I am not going to move.

9. I'm so glad I left DFW a few years ago!
One of the last years I was there, we had more than 100 days with temps over 100 degrees. That's bullshit if you ask me. Some people like the heat, but I'm not one of them. Especially with the rolling blackouts and the increased cost of energy, that's not a place I'd like to be right now.

I'm quite happy being in MI despite the fact that snow in April is not unheard-of.

12. Me neither. I'm further south, but in a much smaller city with alot less
concrete. I hate those high temps, and from what I'm hearing, we should expect a blistering summer. I've already started trying to acclimate myself to warmer temps.

My husband is looking forward to an ice age if one would please appear. I've warned him not to be too excited about such an event.

15. I have a friend looking forward to an ice age too
I really don't think that would be a good thing, though, since we'd be looking at widespread crop failure and millions of people would die. But I suppose it's probably inevitable that sooner or later, we'll face the backlash from nature for what we've done to it. Personally I think we're starting to see it already.
