She is Rep. from Madison and voted against the second resolution. My query to her was if Congress could do ANYTHING to stop a pre-emptive strike against Iran, or if it had effectively abdicated all power due to previous anti-terror resolutions.
She said that neither resolution had congressional intent to do so, but given the fact that they interpreted the first one (ala al Qaida etc.) to give them power to warrantless wiretap - who could predict what this administration would do. She cited Hersh's article and thought that the one thing to restrain them might be fear of a political backlash.
It was a group primarily liberal church women -- and of the seven questions submitted to her for answers in the time she had - one was on Iraq, TWO were on Iran, two were on health and two on immigration.
However, I don't think even political backlash would scare off these psychos - if they squeak through '06 with enough power in congress and the senate - they will go for it.
Very interesting day - went to the event after hearing Randi talk to the guy who wrote Bush on the Couch - that is why I now think this bunch is certifiable and not just plain old stupid and greedy and dangerous.
