Presidential IQs

WASHINGTON --In a published report, the Lovenstein Institute of Scranton, Pennsylvania has detailed findings of a four month study of the intelligence quotient of President George W. Bush. Since 1973, the Lovenstein Institute has published its research to the education community on each new president, which includes the famous "IQ" report among others.

According to statements in the report, there have been twelve presidents over the past 60 years, from F. D. Roosevelt to G. W. Bush who were all rated based on scholarly achievements, writings that they alone produced without aid of staff, their ability to speak with clarity, and several other psychological factors which were then scored in the Swanson/Crain system of intelligence ranking. The study determined the following IQs of each president as accurate to within five percentage points:

147 Franklin D. Roosevelt (D)
132 Harry Truman (D)
122 Dwight D. Eisenhower (R)
174 John F. Kennedy (D)
126 Lyndon B. Johnson (D)
155 Richard M. Nixon (R)
121 Gerald R. Ford (R)
176 James E. Carter (D)
105 Ronald W. Reagan (R)
98 George H. W. Bush (R)
182 William J. Clinton (D)
91 George W. Bush (R)
....................................................

No surprises here! Sounds plausible but NOT

8. And there were not WMD's either
Hoax perpetuation is what got Dubya & Co. where they are today.
If you live by the sword, you die by the sword. I don't have too many ethical qualms about perpetuating this one.
It's been around for a few years, and it never ceases to amaze me how many people believe it. Pass it on!

4. As far as I know
Edited on Wed Apr-19-06 08:21 AM by HannibalBarca
...this is fabricated, I dont think the "Lovenstein Institute of Scranton" actually exists, although looking at the list it may not be too far off reality except for the ridiculously high IQ's, I know the big dog is a special guy but that would make him about 1 in a hundred million or so.

9. Hoax but evidently an inspirational one. Site it may have inspired:
Or did the people at this site come up with the IQ hoax? Who knows, but have a look for fun and giggles.

Just had a quick look around and will have to go back after my caffine kicks in. Interesting commentary index. And from the satire page...

Bush rests comfortably after surgery to implant pacemaker in brain

Thanks to a device similar to the one in Vice President Dick Cheney's heart, the nation has healthy, clear-thinking, plain-speaking leaders again.

WASHINGTON -- In the second White House health scare in little more than a month, doctors Wednesday night implanted a sophisticated pacemaker in President Bush's brain. The device, known as an implantable cranial defibrillator, or ICD, continuously monitors and records the president's brain waves. When Mr. Bush's brain activity becomes dangerously slow for a chief executive, the device delivers a mild electric shock, jolting the president back to a relatively active mental state.

"I feel good," the president told reporters several hours after the operation. Bush then twitched noticeably. "I mean, I feel well," he said.

Doctors say the implant is performing flawlessly, although they're trying to limit the number of shocks Bush receives to fewer than 100 a day.

Seems someone clever (and pretty damned funny) was inspired by the IQ comparison hoax and decided to make the 'Institute' a virtual reality. :D

6. That can't be right
Nixon couldn't mastermind Watergate without bungling it. His IQ was probably closer to Bush's.
