of course this is a high in nominal dollars, but the record in inflation-adjusted dollars is still "in the $80s" according to reports i've seen.

does anyone have a more precise number?

bit of a spike there. oh wait - was that the first Gulf War??? I'm not being sarcastic - I'm just not good with dates, and besides, I was in high school at the time, so I wasn't really into politics.

5. In 1965
I was 15 and worked at a gas station during the summer. Gas was 33 cents a gallon. The minimum wage was 50 cents an hour.

Gas now is about 3 bucks. Minimum wage (federal anyway) is $5.15 or so.

Do the math. For what its worth.
