We need a Rove
As distasteful as his tactics are, the way to snare a criminal is to think like one (or maybe I've been watching too many cop shows). We have all the ammo, a fine opportunity to take back either, even both, the House or Senate, the tone of the nation is in transition right now. People are confused, we need to take advantage of that confusion, step in and show them the way. If the GOP can sell their garbage and make sense out of nonsense, then we definitely can sell our common sensical, clear and true philosophy.

Another advantage that we have is a strong connection to the social sciences, and I'll bet there are a decent number of psych or soc students that read DU. my major was psych/mental health counseling, and in addition to perhaps helping me think "Rovian" has give me connections and resources at local Unis. I'm thinking if we tap the minds of psych and soc profs, students and professionals in a coordinated effort we may have a chance against that insane but wily rove.

How to do this, I'm not sure, just throwing out an idea, maybe someone here has uni connections, too, or is part of a message board of psych professionals, or...

We just need to do something!! (assuming of course the voting machines are hunky-dory, but either way I will go down fighting!)

1. We need a Robespierre
Just beating these clowns in an election ain't enough. They just lick their wounds, then find new ways to destroy the country.

7. I have suggested that we all recognize the administration is operated by

incompetents and thieves. Too often, we proceed as if they were legitimate, thinking in a rational manner.

Example: Rove quits White Office policy job to dedicate himself to the upcoming election.

We develop a list of expected pranks, smears, personal attacks, etc. and make them public to the voters.

Explain in detail how he operates.

Ladies and Gentleman, this is how Rove operates, not specific case, but rather his modus operandi.

It must be done in a non political manner, so that one's political affiliations are not questioned, but one's acceptance of such behavior.

Also, educate the public, not why Democrats are better, bur rather why our policies are better and clearly explain. I believe there is a difference. The difference in approach would be more readily accepted

Also, we should not be afraid to use buzz words, but we set the tone, we define what Pro-Life means, we define what "religious" means, etc.

We need to educate the public on how to think!!

Not what to think, but HOW.

For I see that any thinking person would not accept the crap Bush throws around!

2. I've said this before
but I think the audience is different now....

My father was a WWII Navy vet...He used to talk about the guard dogs they used in the Pacific Theatre who were incredibly vicious and equally effective against "sapper" attacks by Japanese infiltrators into the bases and camps. The only problem was that once conditioned to be so effectively vicious, they couldn't be tamed or brought back into civilized society. Hence, they had to be destroyed.

Having our own KKKarl Rove is a little like having the attack dogs. We need them for the battle but after the battle, when the serious and (hopefully) civilized business of governing takes place, you can't have them in the administration becasue they will eventually corrupt the whole system.

If we had our own KKKarl, we'd have to find a metaphorical "cage" to keep them in until they're needed for a campaign.

jmho....

3. So you're saying we need our own soul-less evil puppetmaster
with no human conscience and no sense of compassion or regret? Sounds to me like, if we had one of those, we'd be as bad as them.

in any case, we already do have plenty of them (just less) who consider themselves D's. believe me/ ask anyone who has worked in mental health, law enforcement, or read message boards.

4. I think James Carville was the closest the Dems have had to Rove
Edited on Wed Apr-19-06 11:18 AM by DinahMoeHum
back in 1992. Only, Carville, unlike Rove, has a conscience.

However, Carville was smart enough to refuse offers to work in the WH afterwards. Clinton used him only for elections, as an outside source.

I mean attacking the situation like a counselor or detective, always try to be one step ahead. and if we think that the Dem elections are all purity and light underneath we are seriously deluded.

9. how 'bout...
growing collective balls among our elected dems,

how 'bout fighting for progressive values, social justice, the environment, education, HEALTH CARE, and most of al....... the truth.

how 'bout standing for something.

We don't need to stoop down to Rove's level. We just have to be good at our own level.

11. so how do we do that? more phone calls and faxes, what?
I am tired of playing nice and letting lunatics run the nation, tahtw eighs heavier on my conscience then using equal framing to win, then using the winning for good. which is more impactful on the american people????
