3. A secure democrat in South Mississippi? Absolutely!

Rep Gene Taylor, (D), Coast Guard Vet, Republican Ass Kicker. The smallest percentage he has ever gotten is 58%. In the last election he beat a Lott with more than 60% of the vote. He ain't no flaming liberal but he is a dem. One of my Taylor quotes after the Hurricane last summer.

We should have a national registry for insurance company executives like we have for sex offenders so we'll know if one lives next door. He wasn't happy with the work of the insurance companies after katrina.

CA-11 is Richard Pombo(R-Tracy) and it's not at all certain that voters will be willing to replace him with a Dem. CA-10, Ellen Tauscher (D-Alamo) is safer every term but that's largely because the most conservative areas of her district were handed to Pombo in the last redistricting and she's a DLCer.

11. Competitive District?

I really don't know. Two years ago this was a very competitive district. The Democratic won, but a very centrist Democrat who has been disappointing. If. however, she can't win re-election this year given the disasters of the Republicans, then we are all in huge trouble.

The District is South Dakota's first and only congressional district. I guess I'm go to go back and vote that she's in a safe district. I hope so; this year at least, I do think she can carry South Dakota again.

13. Iowa's First Congressional District - being vacated by Jim Nussle

of "I make the budget that gouges the poor" fame. (The asshole is running for Governor...God help us all in Iowa).

Three republicans running in a primary and three Democrats running in a primary.

The District trends barely Democratic but the bastid Nussle snuck in during redistricting in 2002 and we just couldn't shake him.

Democratic year?!!! Any of the three Democrats would be just fine in the seat!

15. Heather Wilson has GOT to GO

She's one of the darlings of the far right and has won by the skin of her teeth in the last two elections and due to massive fraud in 2004.

She's got a really strong opponent this time and the state has gone to paper ballots.

I'll be so happy to kick her skinny butt out of office my feet won't touch the ground for a week.

I'm sure she'll never return to this state and will quickly be snapped up by one of the more pernicious lobbying outfits on K Street.

His opponent's campaign consists completely of painting his logo on bus stop benches. It completely depleted his war chest of eleven dollars and forty two cents he got from recycling donated aluminum cans (I'm guessing on that part) I hope there are debates so at least he might get a look from some people.

In EVERY so-called red district, there are people who sit out electons because (1) the candidate I like will lose anyway, or (2) the Dem candidates run as a Repub lite, and therefore inspire NO ONE.

There are simple ways to turn a red district blue.

Just go door to door and TALK to people. Not about Dems. Not about Repubs. No need to "sell" anything. Just ask them what their concerns are. Ask them if they are registered. Hand out a registration form. Give them info on Primary and General Elections dates. That's it.

People who have been sitting out elections are FAR more likely to vote Dem then Republican.

Individuals and small groups can have BIG impact. You can start today by finding out where the boundaries of your precinct are (local Dems should be able to tell you) and making a commitment to find ways to boost turn out in your precinct by 10 or 20%. Do that, and you turn the Republican margin into a Democratic margin.

Or, if you're not up to a shoe leather campaign, you can help Democratic candidate(s) to become truly inspiring candidates by lobbying them to defend the Consent of the Governed -- the principle on which our Constitution was founded -- by coming out strong for Censure/Impeachment and believable elections.

21. Hyde's Dist - Illinois 6, Duckworth vs. Roskam

The primary was a fight. I can't even imagine what this summer is going to be like between Tammy Duckworth who is backed by virtually every important Dem in the US (Durbin, Obama, Rahm Emmanuel just to name the Illinois Dems who are behind her), and Pete Roskam who just had Dick Cheney fly in for a fundraiser!

It's gonna be an intense summer.

I believe in democracy and unless things are perfect you should always replace your representative with someone who is better for the times and better reflects your district. Few districts I think have people who truly stand up for all of their people's needs and desires.
