What happens to "fair and balanced" now?
The thought of Tony Snow being the new Press Secretary raises all sorts of ethical questions, doesn't it? If we thought the Faux News team lobbed softballs before, what kind of questions are they going to ask a former colleague of theirs? Is it appropriate for a White House Press Secretary to be posting regularly as a Freeper at FR, especially since that site has such a disgusting history? How are the people at Faux like Hume and friends supposed to be "fair and balanced" when reporting on someone they used to work with so regularly? Also, is anyone else disturbed by this, even if it remains just a rumor and doesn't actually happen?

2. Actually, I don't honestly care what empty suit they have
standing up there and I will enjoy seeing Snow's obvious discomfort every time he has to call on someone outside Pox's stable to field a question. I think he'll be fun for the entertainment value alone.

Don't expect this gang to appoint anyone to any position who isn't a rabid loyalist.

The only surprise with Snow is the pay cut he's accepting.

4. I never got "fair and balanced"
The truth is the truth is the truth... if you try to "balance" it, it is no longer the truth. I guess that Faux News slogan is just a warning that you won't find the truth there.

Is there any way to pull up all this guy's FR posts? THAT could be interesting:)

It does sound like a conflict of interest.

5. If I were F-Word, I'd be hoping it DOESN'T happen
because if it does, it exposes that they've just been a farmteam for the White Haus all along, another revolving door between public and private sectors. (From speechwriter to newscaster to press secretary ... back to newscaster?) All of us on the left who have been saying that F-Word is a sham will be vindicated if Snow gets this post.

8. So by that logic. Moyers at PBS was suspect, too?
After all he served in the LBJ administration.

And what about Spephenopolous at ABC?

9. Both of them went from the White House to journalism
Snow is taking the opposite approach and is going from a supposedly "legitimate news" organization to the official Minister of Propaganda.

You can bring up the other examples if you want and that's fine, I definitely remember there being serious concerns about Stephanopaulos when he landed his gig with ABC, but you didn't answer a single one of my questions about the conflict of interest around Snow specifically.

11. I didn't answer your questions because I don't have the answers
I'm just wondering if the questions you raised would also apply in the other cases. What is your opinion? Are there similar conflicts if one goes from a political job to a journalistic one?

13. It depends on whether they are proven liars or not.
Tony Snow is a proven liar- he lies on behalf of Bush and lies to smear DEMS almost everyday.

Which Democratic reporters who wound up working for a President has done this?

12. I'd like to know what lies Steph or Bill told that benefitted DEMS.

In their capacity as journalists- since we are talking about Journalists who wind up working for presidents- not the other way around.

I can easily list lies that Snow has reported to smear DEMs or to prop up Bush.

10. Yes. But what are some lies that they told that helped Democrats?
Are we defining Liberal media as "facts that happen to make Republicans look bad?"

AS opposed to Fox, which out-right makes stuff up in order to either make Bush look good (WMDs, etc) or make Democrats look bad (Swiftboats, etc).

Fact is, Tony Snow is a liar, and I can prove it. That is the biggest difference.

Since you brought it up, can you show me the lies that Moyers or George (in their capacity as journalists)told to benefit Democrats?

Once you do this, I'll be glad to list the pro-GOP lies that Tony has repeated- then you might see the difference.

"Logic"? No, you're not demonstratng any.
Notice that Snow is leaving the media to joing the White House, not the other way around. It's nice of you to use a false comparison to somehow equate Tony Snow and two Democrats while defending the former and getting a shot in at the latter..

The MSM isn't listening, anyway.
