Republican quotes from War in Bosnia
As we have seen.... AGAIN.... when the repugs are stung by criticism of their failed war, they respond by saying.... "If you question us you give confidence to the enemy." This time it's the 7 retired general officers who are calling them out.... and again it's...."You're unpatriotic and helping the enemy by speaking out."

Let's revisit these jerks comments when we committed troops to Bosnia in accordance with The NATO Agreements;

My fav is the last one.......

"You can support the troops but not the president."
--Rep Tom Delay (R-TX)

"Well, I just think it's a bad idea. What's going to happen is they're going to be over there for 10, 15, maybe 20 years."
--Joe Scarborough (R-FL)

"Explain to the mothers and fathers of American servicemen that may come home in body bags why their son or daughter have to give up their life?"
--Sean Hannity, Fox News, 4/6/99

" President . . . is once again releasing American military might on a foreign country with an ill-defined objective and no exit strategy. He has yet to tell the Congress how much this operation will cost. And he has not informed our nation's armed forces about how long they will be away from home. These strikes do not make for a sound foreign policy."
--Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA)

"American foreign policy is now one huge big mystery. Simply put, the administration is trying to lead the world with a feel-good foreign policy."
--Rep Tom Delay (R-TX)

"If we are going to commit American troops, we must be certain they have a clear mission, an achievable goal and an exit strategy."
--Karen Hughes, speaking on behalf of George W Bush

"I had doubts about the bombing campaign from the beginning . . I didn't think we had done enough in the diplomatic area."
--Senator Trent Lott (R-MS)

"I cannot support a failed foreign policy. History teaches us that it is often easier to make war than peace. This administration is just learning that lesson right now. The President began this mission with very vague objectives and lots of unanswered questions. A month later, these questions are still unanswered. There are no clarified rules of engagement. There is no timetable. There is no legitimate definition of victory. There is no contingency plan for mission creep. There is no clear funding program. There is no agenda to bolster our over-extended military. There is no explanation defining what vital national interests are at stake. There was no strategic plan for war when the President started this thing, and there still is no plan today"
--Rep Tom Delay (R-TX)

"Victory means exit strategy, and it's important for the President to explain to us what the exit strategy is."
--Governor George W. Bush (R-TX)

Funny thing is, we won that war without a single member of our forces killed in action.

2. Heh
I was younger and less involved politcally back during the Clinton term, plus I was essentially brought up in a Republican household, so those were the people I identified with.

Since then, Bush screwed our country up, I learned to think for myself, and started looking into politics a lot more.

The one problem has been, well since I became a Democrat, the Republicans have all been in power, so I haven't had a chance to see how they react if the roles were reversed. So your post gives me an idea of what to look forward to :) I can't wait till we regain more power, then can use on them the same tactics they've been using against us.

"What happened to supporting our president no matter what?" "What happened to giving aid to the enemy if you dare report something bad about those in power." Oh yeah, I can't wait!

6. Not so fast....
Don't expect Democrats to use "the same tactics they've been using against us". You'll find that Democrats are much more the "live and let live" type. We're not committed to hounding Republicans into their graves, we just want their stupid asses out of power. It's they and their desperation that lead to the despicable politics of today.

7. Nah...
...I'm referring to everyday people spouting their own BS lines back at them. Let's see if they still believe that whole crap about "even if you disagree with the president, you should respect him and the office," or "we have to support our president or else we are giving solace to our enemies" -- that kinda crap which you know would go out the window if our president was a Democrat.

Of course, Republicans are, for the most part, pretty dumb, and couldn't care about things like common sense and logic, so I guess pointing out their hypocrisy really would do no good anyway...

3. Pretty funny stuff
If you don't think about the fact that these same idiots saying these things then are now running our country.

Amazing to read.

I'm sure we'll see a segment on Paula Zahn or Leslie Blitzer, or Joe Scarborough or surely somewhere on Faux News, asking some of these people to explain their statements in light of recent events and in light of hte fact that we didn't lose a single soldier and saved hundreds of thousands from genocide and had the full support of the european nations to engage in this action.

5. Big eye opener.
I didn't realize that B* EVER said anything smart, or that he ever had a clue about the definition of victory. "Victory means exit strategy, and it's important for the President to explain to us what the exit strategy is." --Governor George W. Bush (R-TX) Of course he doesn't have to explain anything because the rules don't apply to him. :banghead: :sarcasm:
