CLEVELAND, (April 18) - - Academy Award Winning Actor Michael Douglas will travel to Cleveland on Sunday, April 23, to support the reelection bid of U.S. Representative Dennis J. Kucinich (D-OH).

"As a United Nations Messenger of Peace, I am pleased to come to Cleveland to strongly support Dennis Kucinich's efforts for world peace. He and I share many of the same concerns about what concrete steps must be taken to make this a more peaceful world, beginning with the urgent need for nuclear non-proliferation. Long before others Dennis warned America not to go to war against Iraq. He is now trying to head off a war with Iran. He is an important leader for peace and a true visionary. He deserves support and I am proud to be in Cleveland to provide it," said Douglas.

Two weeks ago, Douglas was at the UN to honor Kofi Annan's efforts to ban landmines. Douglas works internationally for the control of small arms.

Kucinich led the effort in the House of Representatives in challenging the Administration's march toward war in Iraq. He organized 125 Democrats in voting against the war. An analysis he did in October of 2002 of the Administration's claims regarding Iraq proved prescient as he was the first member of Congress to categorically debunk the case for war. He later was instrumental in forming a bipartisan coalition supporting legislation, House Joint Resolution 55, to withdraw US troops from Iraq.-snip-

I was an Ohioan once, when Kucinich was Cleveland's mayor.

Michael Douglas makes some pretty good films and I believe I like his politics, too.

I expect the GOP to try almost anything to unseat Dennis Kucinich, who fights for the best of all possible circumstances for citizenship, as opposed to the Republicans who are setting the Constitution ablaze even as we speak.

His office is right down the street from me. He's such a wierd little man, but he's passionate about his politics and happens to be correct with them.

21. I got to see Kucinich speak at UF

he's an amazing and brilliant man.

However, I don't think being weird is a bad thing. We're all weird when you look close enough. Heck, in a HS spelling bee, the teacher asked me to spell the word 'weird' and the whole class bust out laughing. I've worn the label proudly ever since.
