I'm Sorry Scotty's Out. it's Not Good News For Our Side.
Why? Scotty was lousy at his job and the press was finally at a point where they were beating the tar out of him on a daily basis. His replacement can't do a worse job, plus whoever replaces him will get a grace period from the press corps at a time when bushco is vulnerable. I just can't rejoice over that.

1. With the number and magnitude of scandals coming out
on an almost daily basis, whoever takes Scotty's place will be as bad, if not worse than he was in the first place. I look at this as an opportunity to get a few guffaws and laughs, belly and otherwise.

2. Deck Chairs On Titanic
King george can do all the rearranging he wants.

He's too stupid to heed the warnings about the iceberg that we hit, so our ship will still sink in due course. In a couple of years, this will all be at the bottom of the Atlantic....so to speak.

3. ouch. never thought of it that way.
I think you're right.
Scotty was an easy target in his end days for the 'journalists' that finally smelled the blood up to their elbows after all the years. They'll probably be a lot easier on the new guy/gal for a while.

4. I don't know, it is hard for them to cover their asses
these days... That is the problem.. The message, not the messenger. Their lies and deceits are coming around the corner and they are having to do everything to keep the truth from coming out..

The one qualification this new one should have is the ability to lie with a straight face.. I will give you that, Scotty always looked guilty....

6.  information from the white house press corps....
is something I can do without. The only instances when I've watched or read of them, were for strictly entertainment purposes.

12. You're right, and the big thing was his behind-the-scenes performance.
According to those who've been in and out of the WH press pool, McClellan was a nasty, ruthless SOB when it came to controlling access. I think it's a zero-sum situation - neither good nor bad for the WH. It'll be interesting to see who they tap for a replacement.

8. The best thing would be to find dirt on the next guy...
Too bad the press won't betray their own kind.

11. Dirt?
I've always thought blackmail was a sucky thing to do. And that's just bullshit about the press not betraying their own kind.

13. If they are clever, they will put someone in place who is
Edited on Wed Apr-19-06 05:48 PM by Cerridwen
personable, well dressed, attractive, well spoken and a sociopath.

S/He will spin in such a way the sound bites will resonate with most u.s. citizens. S/He will be amiable and comfortable with the wh press corps. S/He will be devious as hell and have no compunction about outright lying while smiling ear to ear and the press corps will lap it up. S/He will exude class and a love of life which only the most sensitive among us can detect as being a facade.

This could get interesting.

edit to add attractive

14. Nobody except political junkies and Washington insiders care who
the press secretary is. The next one will do just continue telling the same tired platitudes and phrases.

20. 'Piggy' gets chop at last in revamp of White House
Scott McClellan’s tormented, sweaty, pink-faced appearances in front of the White House press corps had, for some, become almost too painful to watch.

“The living symbol of this White House’s profound and perhaps mortal problem with language and meaning,” was the verdict of the writer Michael Wolff in a recent Vanity Fair article. “He’s Piggy in Lord of the Flies: a living victim, whose reason for being is, apparently, to shoulder public ridicule and pain . . . he’s the person nobody would ever choose to be.”

21. "Bring it on"
I have no fear no matter who they bring on to speak for the "Fraud" that the press corp will be able to handle it. If they bring on Tony Snow, it will show the partisan flak that he is as well as the administration. If they bring on Dan Senor or Tori Clark, it will show that they are desparate for the old has beens. They were already laughed off the stage in their previous role as mouth pieces. I really cannot think of anyone who can carry this pail of water.
