Co-worker's comment at a staff meeting today:
We were looking ahead to our schedule for the spring and summer. Planning which of our sales people would call upon which of our further-flung advertisers (usually a day trip, and always by car).

Naturally the prospect of $3+ per gallon gasoline came up. Much gnashing of teeth about that. And then one of the sales people said, in all seriousness:

"And it'll get really bad once Iran nukes us."

Good freakin' lord.

I got assertive. Told him that was nonsense (but used a stronger word). Said that even if that's Iran's agenda, everybody with more than half a brain recognizes that Iran's at least ten years away from being able to develop weaponry.

"But..but..," he stammered, "the TV news said they could do it in 14 days."

"Sure," I replied. "And remember when they said Saddam Hussein had robot drones ready to fly across the ocean and drop down our chimneys? Did I miss them?"

And he's an alleged "media sales professional".

6. "They could have it in 14 days"
Actually, I think the number was 16 days IF they had something like 50,000 centrifuges. They have about 3000. I'll be a millionaire if the tooth fairy visits me 10 million more times. I just need faith that if I keep pulling teeth, I'll grow new ones.

8. More like it will really be bad when Chucklenuts nukes Iran
I expect that will trigger an oil embargo against us and the US will find itself completely friendless. That would've been my response if a coworker said that - and I work with a lot of idiot Freepers.
