To me, this boycott is about the xenophobes. I, for one, am mad as hell...

I am a non-hispanic white at a workplace that is about 2/3 hispanic on a small U.S. city (100,000) 20 miles north of the border (Yuma, AZ), i am a licensed insurance agent at a call center that does both 3/4 english and 1/4 spanish outbound calls.... the reps make the sell and then send it over to us agents to verify... a little over half the agents are hispanic. the whites overwhelmingly are so xenophobic it's sickening. ALWAYS bitching about the illegals as the cause of all of our problems... and speaking of them as if their not even human... and of course bitching about people speaking spanish, etc. and just really xenophobic all around, etc. well i am joining my hispanic brothers and sisters in not going to work on May 1st and the first is always the busiest day of the month, we get new leads... a few other non-hispanic agents will also be joining the work stoppage on May 1st and the thing is, is that a majority of our calls come from a callcenters they have in Canada and so they will see how FUBARED our workplace is without immigrants, without hispanics, without those who are in solidarity with hispanics and immigrants. I would not be surprised if they end up shutting the place down... the production managers and many supervisors ARE Mexicans (with green cards or at least as far as I know) and the general manager himself is a Mexican national that crosses the border every day.

I am mad as hell at the xenophobes.... this arrogance that they are ENTITLED to all these rights and priviledges just because of the blessed geographic circumstances surrounding their birth and how they speak so condescendingly of those of less-privileged birth doing EXACTLY the same thing that they, when pressed, ADMIT they'd do if they were born into similar circumstances... they'll admit this when I ask them in a moment of lucidity and then turn around the VERY NEXT MINUTE and speak again of them as criminal aliens that do not deserve emergency medical treatment, etc.

This is why I am not going to work on May 1st! It is show the xenophobic bastards which side I'm going throw my lot if they want to make this an US VS. THEM thing.

1. There is no confusion here. Liberals stand with workers.

Period. And this whole, "we can disagree" thing is just wrong.

At bottom, this is about Labor being exploited. If you agree that brown Labor can be exploited, then, you aren't a liberal or a "progressive".

That's it.

And frankly, the xenophobes can kiss my @ss.
