2. not to knock
not to knock the problems that women have, but one in eight young black men between the ages of 25 and 29 are currently in prison or jail, today. And often for petty offenses that might have drawn probation or parole if they'd lived in another neighborhood.

Lots of people have problems, some of them pretty major ones. Don't feel too alone.

8. Actually, yeah
The problems are tied together, those young men in prison leave behind young mothers and children with all the associated problems of being newly single and not by your own choice. If I had a daughter then yeah, I'm fairly sure I'd teach her to care about the issue.

10. not what I asked
woul you show any caring about her issue? it is so easy to say "hey, buck up, it could be worse" of course we can always find a worse case scenario for everything, it doesn't help in the least to brush off a person's feelings that way. hope you practice birth control.

4. A bit hyperbolic don't you think?
I have read a few of your posts and it seems apparent that you might need to see a professional to help you sort through your feelings. I won't treat you as a second class citizen. Good luck!

5. Not dead by any means...
although I wouldn't try to convince someone in South Dakota otherwise. I think the threats and skimming of rights will lead to a firmer resolve to secure those rights.

Also, in Nebraska, it seems they are trying to reintroduce segregation...I say, Bring it on!!!

The American people will vote accordingly in 2006 and 2008.

6. You're right. . .
Things currently are fairly entrenched re women's status. But just like women struggled for the right to vote generation after generation, so too must we struggle so that women's status will be equal to men's, even though if it were to occur, it would occur long after we're dead.

Take heart, that the feminist movement still exists, although currently largely underground.

9. I have been so sick about this, too
no matter how far we go with attaining equality it seems hateful misogynists (inc. some women themselves) will always be in the majority. this really freaks me out to read the sheer number of sneering, deep-seated hate-filled irrational angry posts. makes me want to never leave my safe haven again.

11. No......
FormerR, WE WON'T LET THEM!!!!!

That must be our mantra, when all seems "lost." Power in numbers... Bottom line, we have work to do (and young men and women to educate).
