Your point that he "lost" is absurd. Consider that the candidate he was backing is an inarticulate buffoon and in 2000 he was running against 8 years of unprecedented prosperity under a Democrat. In 2004 he was running that same candidate against a backdrop of a failed war and a weak economy.
