It's pretty clear that ALL = the whole world never got along ever in the history.

If you look at a smaller scale like DU, it is clear that there is a lot more cooporation, but there are a plenty of disagreements as well. So that's also no.

And the same applies to family, friends. Even on the microscale we do not seem to be able to always get along.

I guess it is something to do with the way human beings operate.

does that mean no one has opinions, ideas, preferences? Then obviously, no we will not all "get along". We are not clones.

Does it mean we can make allowances for other's differences and not think to be a buttinsky and try to run someone else's life? To answer that, some of us are better than it than others and it varies on a daily basis. It isn't a constant. On a personal level, I try to seek the truth as others see it and express mine in a respectful manner. The rubber hits the road when we find out if we are able to tolerate the other stance. There are some stances that are unacceptable to me. I don't accept george walker or his total distruction of everything that comes within 100,000 miles of him. No, I won't "get along" with that 'tude.

Do you have an idea on exactly why we would want to "all get along"?

26. Get along as in not make things into a fight

Because once something is no longer an intellectual argument, but has turned into a fight is the point when reason no longer applies. The problem is that there is threshold and you can control it a bit, but controlling somebody else's threshold is much more difficult. You are allowed to have differences of opinion, but some opinions will cause fights.

answered yes, but I don't think we're quite there yet. Too many angry, defensive people on all sides right now and too few willing to hear more than a few words from somebody before they are making personal judgments and deciding they know all they need to.

When we spend a bit more time asking people who they are and less time assuming and telling them, then maybe we'll get along. Need to drop some anger first, and I don't think we're there yet.

because like it or not, our economy is built upon the Have's getting rich at the expense of the Have Nots.

ALL of us getting along equates to accepting that.

All of the have nots getting along might be another story, I'm not sure.
