No one claims $500,000 stash in truck
When security guards at the Beaver Valley Power Station discovered a bag containing thousands of dollars in a tractor-trailer cab, one of the vehicle's occupants told them his boss planned to use the cash to buy a truck.

It must have been some truck.

State police said the bag, which guards spotted on Tuesday while conducting a routine search of the tractor-trailer at the entrance to the nuclear power plant, contained 10 plastic-wrapped bundles of cash totaling $504,230.

Police later seized the money and bag after a dog trained to detect drugs sniffed and reacted to the bag, indicating contact with controlled substances.

The truck driver and passenger, whose names were withheld but who are from Texas, were released without charges because no apparent crime had been committed.

1. Duh. They were going to try to buy a bomb with that money. No one will
ever claim that money. What a bunch of idiots. But go out and arrest some innocent guy in Washington because his fingerprints "appear to match".
This is beyond insanity.

7. Nope. The money "I" lost was nonsequential small bills
mostly $20s but with some 10 and 5s in there. I got closer but will share with you since you got the "green" part right.

8. Somebody Needs To E-mail This Story To Keith O...........
I'm sorry - but something is smells with this story. Last night I read that the truckers were allowed to go but the police detained the press. This story needs to be investigated more. If Keith mentions it on his show it may get the exposure it needs to be more fully investigated.

Can you imagine if you were stopped by the TSA at an airport with a bag of $50,000 in small bills let alone $500,000 in small bills outside of a power station.

Nobody wants to claim the money? Where did these truckers pick it up? From whom? What were their instructions for delivering it? No ID's? Bechtel Corp?

Here's some background on Bechtel from Wikepedia:

Bechtel Corporation (Bechtel Group) is the largest civil engineering company in the world. With headquarters in San Francisco, Bechtel ranks as the 6th-largest privately-owned company in the United States. As of 2002, Bechtel had 47,000 employees working on 900 projects with $11.6 billion in revenue.

Bechtel participated in the building of the Hoover Dam in the 1930s. It has also had involvement in several other high profile construction engineering projects, including the Channel Tunnel, numerous power projects, including pipelines, refineries, and nuclear power plants, the BART, Jubail Industrial City in Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong International Airport, the Big Dig, and (from 2003) the rebuilding of the civil infrastructure of Iraq funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The Bechtel family has owned Bechtel since setting up the company in the 1920s. Bechtel's size, its political clout, and its penchant for privacy have made it a perennial target for journalists and politicians since the 1930s. Bechtel has maintained strong relationships with officials in many United States administrations, including those of Nixon, Reagan, George H. W. Bush, and George W. Bush. The company also has strong ties to other governments, particularly the Saudi Royal Family.

Recently, the company has come under criticism for alleged mismanagement of the Big Dig project, its financial links to the bin Laden family, and the manner in which it received Iraqi rebuilding contracts after the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003. Politicians in the United States and in Europe have made accusations of cronyism between the George W. Bush administration and Bechtel.

Some key words jump out at me:

- strong relationships with officials in many United States administrations including NIXON, REAGAN, GEORGE H.W.BUSH AND GEORGE W. BUSH.

- the company also has strong ties to other governments, particulary the SAUDI ROYAL FAMILY

- financial links to the BIN LADEN FAMILY

- received rebuilding contracts after the U.S. INVASION OF IRAQ IN 2003

- politicians in the U.S and in Europe have made accusations of CRONYISM between GEORGE W. BUSH administration and BECHTEL.

Is somebody going to CONNECT THE DOTS with this one? I sure do hope so.

18. duct tape and plastic sheeting
Hmm, guess there's a new use for that combo:

"The bundles were tightly compressed and wrapped in silver tape and plastic, but their contents could be seen."

22. Since when do they use drug dogs to inspect at a nuke plant? They
use bomb-sniffing dogs, right? And they don't usually crosstrain dogs in both types of detection, do they? Not in my limited experience, anyway. Just another weirdness. If the dogs were bomb-sniffing dogs, as they should have been, they were alerting on explosive materials, not drugs. :scared:

24. You can be charged with making more than $10,000 deposits...
... in a bank.

Why can't they hold two men (one with no ID) who have nothing to say about why they were at a NUCLEAR FACILITY??

They could have been held on any number of charges. Trespassing, suspicion of money laundering, attempted theft....

Instead, they seize the money and the two vanish into the countryside.

Hello? :wtf:
