DA Mike Nifong's opponent on Fox "News"
Edited on Thu Apr-20-06 04:20 PM by Bleachers7
I just saw something disturbing and disgusting. I was walking past a TV that had Fox "News" on. There was a woman on named Freda Black. She is running against the Duke rape case DA Mike Nifong in the Democratic primary on May 1 for DA. I have no idea what she was saying, and it doesn't matter anyway. Why would Fox "News" give this person airtime? This is a local DA's race? To me, this seems like some form of intimidation in regards to the rape case. She has no place or purpose on Fox news. What can she say? The girl wasn't raped? They botched the investigation? This is the height of irresponsibility. No matter how screwed up the Duke case may be, this is even worse.

2. Fox News is using this person to further the notion that the DA
is going forward with these indictments/investigation to maybe get more votes because he is up for re-election.

3. Don't know much about the case (or want to) but it seems
the Con Media is rabidly trying to debuke the prosecution. I understand the value of exploring all sides of the case, but every time I tune into RWTV, the commentator/analyst/windbag is saying something negative about the prosecutor, the woman, or the strength of the case. I'm not understanding the rationale behind this, it seems a bit creepy to me.

4. Only Democratic candidates for Durham DA -- primary May 2
All three candidates for DA in Durham are running in the Democratic primary. Nifong and Black were each Assistant DA's; he was appointed to the position about a year ago. I live nearby in Chapel Hill so I don't have to choose between them. I am not impressed with his handling of the LAX circus, but Black and Bishop have their own issues.

This DA office, during the Peterson murder trial (staircase) which they won, relied heavily on an expert witness (Sami ___?? -- I can't remember his name) who was exposed by the defense as being a fraud. While he had appeared as a prosecution expert many times, he had made up his credentials, training, etc.

I know several of the defense attorneys. This looks like a full-employment opportunity for everyone doing criminal defense in this area.
