Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is criticizing the federal government for what he calls a lack of understanding of the need to improve California's strained levee system.
The governor, who spent time Thursday at the Office of Emergency Services, warned that the state is just one earthquake away from a Hurricane Katrina-type disaster.
Schwarzenegger is speaking out just a day before a personal meeting with President Bush.
"It's amazing to me that the federal officials, who actually did such a terrible job with Katrina, haven't learned a few lessons yet," Schwarzenegger told KCRA 3. "We need the federal government to step up and to stop passing the buck."
