A Great Protest Opportunity-Bush Coming To Oklahoma May 6

Bush To Speak At OSU Commencement

Apparently the story is that Bush agreed to come to OSU as long as the school didn't announce it before the White House did.

The OSU newspaper announced it anyway and the school threatened to "censor" the paper. They didn't do that after the Student Press Law Center said they would intervene.

So Bush doesn't want people to know where he is speaking?

I think a good protest would be in Stillwater, Oklahoma on May 6, 2006

9. Norman Is Where The "Other" School Is In Oklahoma
But it is about 80+ miles south I believe

and we as Dems could all unify, even Sooners and Cowboys (OU and OSU) I suppose
in opposition to Bush

15. Actually, the giant cross is in Edmond. Some fundy church (where they
speak in tongues and all that other weird crap) spent more than $400K to erect it.
And the city gave the church a variance in the sign ordinance - there aren't supposed to be any signs taller than 35 ft (IIRC) in Edmond.

FOUR HUNDRED THOUSAND FOKKIN' DOLLARS - think how many poor, sick and homeless could have been helped with that amount of $$$!!
WHAT WOULD JESUS DO, dammit? Real bunch of "Christians" in that church, eh?

17. Take you about 2 hours ...

Depending on traffic in OKC. You have to go all the way thru OKC to get to Norman, which can sometimes take an hour.

3. It's in the works
We have decided the best course of action to unify the movement is to have a meeting for everyone interested. We will be meeting at 7:30 p.m. this Sunday, April 23rd in 415 of OSU's Student Union. I hope to see y'all there!

President, OSU Young Democrats

10. Glad to help
I didn't post it in the OK forum because there is already a thread there about the protest, including the meeting to organize.

I got that message in email from a relative who is a student at OSU. I'm much too old to be a OSU Young Democrat.
If I was younger I would be a OU Young Democrat, I look better in red than orange.

14. Might want to get in touch with DFA in Norman, also
if it really gets going, you might want to talk to Tres Savage at the Oklahoma Daily, the OU campus newspaper--they might put a reporter on it and get some buzz going on campus here.
