I was taken aback by something that Hu said.
He mentioned something about "China's 1.3 billion people", and it occurred to me that the .3 in that number represents a group of people equivalent in size to THE ENTIRE POPULATION OF THE UNITED STATES. That just blows my mind, that we are a decimal in comparison to China, and in the coming years that will be the case even more as China becomes the world's economic behemoth and the US diminishes in importance.

5. Last I had heard they were just a billion.
I thought they had strict population controls in place...

They added a whole America worth of people while I wasn't looking.

And while they've got strict population control, how do expect to keep a billion people from fucking?

Their population isn't much smaller, and it's growing much faster. I don't expect it to be pretty.

11. Well, actually, YOU shouldn't be scared of PRC military.
While it has plenty of troops, the PRC just doesn't have the means to project power very far past their own borders, militarily. Taiwan, be scared. Vietnam, be scared. Us, not so much.

That's news?

What matters far more to me right now is that THEY OWN US.

They own our debt, and we're so far up their asses, we're never gonna see daylight.

Thanks a lot, Richard Nixon/Henry Kissinger. If Nixon weren't dead, I'd kill him myself for this, and Kissinger, well, he's the world's worst war criminal who's never been prosecuted. I hope there's an afterlife with a really special Hell for that motherfucker.

13. I didn't say it was news.
It's just that that juxtaposition, between their .3 and ours was rather striking. And part of the reason it's striking is the economic power, and the future ecological devastation those millions represent once they start to emulate our wasteful lifestyles...

21. their economy is growing at 10%, so use the multiplier on that
and see how far they are advancing during the Bush years.

Why? They flood us with cheap, basically subsidized goods, and keep their currency low enough we cannot play catch up.

Japan, Korea, Vietnam, etc.

China and India are examples of why we must have population control.

35. Here in Japan, we're more nervous about N. Korea.
I'm baffled by the Koizumi government's sycophancy towards Bush and ambivalence toward China.

If anything, Japan should be making inroads to closer ties with Beijing, as the US is just about used up.

was saying during the election but it sure did not resonate with the people. China is the new economic promise of the planet. India comes in second.
The US consumer has peaked - it is on to more fertile markets!
