Another Cuban caught with a weapons cache and C-4 explosives
But of course since Cubans are anti-Castro freedom fighters and not Muslim terrorists, the M$M and Homeland Security will look the other way. Oh and by the way, the fellow just happens to be a retired Army Special Forces officer.

Man with cache of weapons claims to be part of anti-Castro group

April 20, 2006

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — A Cuban exile arrested for allegedly stashing more than 1,000 guns in his home said he is a member of a militant group that wants to overthrow Fidel Castro.

Robert Ferro, 61, was arrested after authorities raided his Upland home on Friday and found dozens of assault weapons, machine guns and handguns. Authorities believe Ferro may have been running a black-market gun ring out of the home.

<snip>

Ferro, a retired Army Special Forces officer, had previously been accused of running a paramilitary camp on a Pomona chicken ranch to train Mexican nationals to overthrow Castro. Authorities found 5 pounds of C-4 explosive at the ranch, and he was convicted of possessing illegal explosives in 1992 and sentenced to two years in prison.

His arrest comes five months after Miami anti-Castro activists Santiago Alvarez and Osvaldo Mitat were arrested on unrelated illegal weapons and explosives charges.

Both men have pleaded not guilty and are being held without bail. They are scheduled to stand trial May 8 in federal court in Fort Lauderdale.

11. Why do you think poppy is involved at this point? He's got
lots of other things to worry over, like his asshat son, as does Porter. I know you're not the OP, just curious.

12. Because Poppy and Porter go way back with this crew

This photograph was taken in a nightclub in Mexico City on 22nd January, 1963. It is believed that the men in the photograph are all members of Operation 40. Closest to the camera on the left is Felix Rodriguez. Next to him is Porter Goss and Barry Seal. Tosh Plumlee is attempting to hide his face with his coat. Others in the picture are Alberto 'Loco' Blanco (3rd right) and Jorgo Robreno (4th right).

14. OK, now I have to research Operation 40. That pic is very
interesting; I'm not familiar with most of those people and the year is intriguing.

15. If news reports are correct, there may be major shenanigans here

some reports state that he had military-issue tripod-mounted machineguns.

This guy's a convicted felon, and to buy a machinegun legally you have to pass what amounts to a Secret-level government security clearance (the background check typically takes six to eight MONTHS). It goes without saying that convicted felons need not apply, and a single civilian-transferable M2 .50 caliber machinegun probably sells for more than $100,000 anyway (and it is automatically registered with the Federal government, and the BATFE gets to inspect it once a year). And C-4? You can't just go into your local hardware store and buy that...

Now it's possible that the media got it wrong and the "arsenal of machineguns" may actually be a bunch of collectibles, two or three civilian guns with handgrips that stick out, and a few BB guns; but if the media got it right, then one wonders where the HECK this guy got them...
