Pulitzer-winner claimed Abramoff gave "a lot of money to Democrats"

"On the April 19 edition of C-SPAN's Q&A, Washington Post staff writer Susan Schmidt -- one of three Post reporters to receive a 2006 Pulitzer Prize for investigating the influence-peddling schemes of Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff -- repeated the false claim that Abramoff gave "a lot of money to Democrats." In fact, as Media Matters for America has noted repeatedly, Democrats received contributions from Abramoff's clients and associates, but none from Abramoff directly.

SCHMIDT: Well, that's, you know -- I think that some of the elected officials don't know how far this thing goes in their own parties, both Republican and Democrat. The Democrats have not been -- a few have been sort out there strident about it. But there's a deafening silence on the part of a lot of people, and that's because, actually, Abramoff had -- was giving a lot of money to Democrats, too."

when Abramoff started to represent them. Others lowered their donations. A few favored Democrats kept getting the full donation in spite of Abramoff and his counsel.

I really think the tribes should sue anyone who does this. I know one of the Chiefs did speak about it, and was very angry ~

2) After they hired him, their donations to Democrats WENT DOWN


So, someone needs to ask this idiot 'how is the Indian Tribe money, Abramoff money? He didn't GIVE money to the tribes, Idiot, he TOOK money from them. QED for the simple-minded, the money the tribes gave to Dems or Repubs, WAS THEIR OWN. It was NOT Abramoff money.


Pulitzer Prize? Maybe we need to institute a new Prize for lying 'journalists' ~ The Pinnochio Prize might not be a bad idea.
