"Lynching" e-mail probed
Black state lawmaker hands over "threatening" letter to State Patrol
By Chris Frates
Denver Post Staff Writer

A black Democratic lawmaker said Thursday that he has turned over an e-mail that supports his lynching to the State Patrol for investigation.

Democratic Rep. Terrance Carroll of Denver said the e-mail was sent to him in response to a joke he made suggesting the state build a wall around its borders to keep out the Minutemen, armed citizens who patrol the border between the U.S. and Mexico.

"You are SOOOO lucky lynching and firing squad for treason aren't available punishments, anymore," the e-mail read. "I'd vote you in, in a heartbeat."

Carroll said the e-mail, sent Wednesday, was "not acceptable political discourse."

"Knowing the history of African-Americans and lynching, this is very offensive to me and threatening," he said. "You have to be worried when people use language like that. Are they capable of taking the next step?"

4. You know, you really have to wonder about the IQ of people like this...
Putting aside the Minuteman's obvious racist and violent overtones:

1) "Lynching" was never a punishment for treason...
2) Why would anybody send this kind of threat via email considering in this day and age the ability to trace such messages. It's like calling in a bomb threat from your home in the era of caller-I.D.

6. This the kind of thing Fox News commentators say all the time...
...Poison the judges...
...bomb Coburn Towers...

You know, satirical riffs.

Like the kind of stuff Limbaugh was saying right up to The Oklahoma City Bombing.

What harm could there be?
