The Most Beautiful Magazine Cover ever.

I was at my local grocery store and saw this at the check out and caught my breath.

There are many artists out there that will (and probably should) disagree with me, but it is my opinion.

The general theme and faces on the cover made my heart sing, as well as the stunning Julia Roberts as mother nature.

Just wow. I bought it and can't wait to read it. RFK Jr. is aging SO well.

17. Somewhere I heard/read that when

you see several "famous" people together in a photo like that, each person is usually photographed separately and the photo compiled later. It seems that it is like herding cats to get that many famous folks together in the same place and at the same time for one photo. So maybe Julia was all by herself for that photo.

before it sells out. Every page is a joy. You can skip the Hollywood gossip by whatshisname, overlook all of the "beautiful people" at the Oscar party and avoid all of the glamorous people ads and just read the articles. Pure 24K gold. From the editor's letter to the Michael Wolff's Words Fail Him contribution on Snotty Scotty McPuffymoonface's failure in the Press Room, to Gore's article , to the Hall of Fame article by James Wolcott who writes about NASA scientist James Hansen who stood up to the right to speak the truth about global warming. There is even an in depth article on the The Raping of Appalachia that discusses Chucklenuts' allowing the mining industry to destroy small towns (I know, surprise, surprise.)

And I believe that the cover photo is not photo-shopped - read that inside somewhere.

I subscribed to Vanity Fair over a year ago for the comprehensive attention they give to their articles. No fluff, hit and run work - each piece a gem.

by Gail Sheehey during the presidential campaign of 2000. Laying out in gory detail the horribleness and awfulness of his performance as Texas governor. The article could not have made it more clear that if Bush were elected we would be fucked. Although even Ms. Sheehy couldn't have predicted just how badly. Aside from the infamous post-911 "Bush at War" cover story I don't recall this fluffing. As a regular reader of VF I actually found G.Carter's editorials one of the few places outside the Internets where I could turn for some pretty consistently anti-Bush diatribes, dating back to before it became the national pastime.
